FCS turns out to cheer on FC Monmouth
Dozens of FCS Board members, staff and their families turned out on Wednesday, June 20th at the Count Basie field in Red Bank to cheer on FC Monmouth, the area's newest semi-pro soccer team in the North-East Division of the National Premier Soccer League. The team has partnered with the agency, inviting us to be jersey sponsors for their inaugural year. In addition, the partnership provided opportunities to spread the word about FCS programs and services. It was a great night out and FC Monmouth remained undefeated at home! The team's final home game is this Sat., June 30th. Gates open at 5 pm. and they will be fighting for a spot in the playoffs. Raising Awareness of Elder Abuse
Friday, June 15th, was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. To mark the day, FCS staff wore purple in solidarity with the more than five million older Americans who are victims of elder abuse each year. As FCS Director of Adult Protective Services Jessica Reyes recently testified before the Monmouth County Office on Aging, Disabilities & Veterans Services, sustained funding of services is needed to protect the growing number of vulnerable adults in our community. Honors FCS Volunteer
The Monmouth County Library Commission recently recognized State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) volunteer Harry Scher for his exemplary service to the library system! Harry is one of 18 specially-trained SHIP volunteers who counsel people about their Medicare choices. Twice a month for the past 17 years, the 95-year-old veteran has faithfully visited with SHIP clients at the library headquarters in Manalapan. Monmouth County Library Director Judith Tolchin says "Harry is a tremendous person and a true inspiration and help to his community! We are so lucky to know him!" Congratulations, Harry!
