FEATURED EVENT:
Student Representatives Join Hillsboro School Board
For the first time in its history, students have officially joined the Hillsboro School Board. The students - Jessica Jose-Nickerson, a junior at Century High School; and Samanta Vega Contreras, a junior at Liberty High School - will serve in an advisory capacity for one year. Their participation kicks off the Student Representative program, which invites students from Century, Liberty, and Hillsboro Online one year; and students from Glencoe, Hilhi, and Miller Big Picture in opposite years to provide student voice and perspective to Board meetings and activities. Board Chair Lisa Allen administered the Oath of Office to the students at the beginning of the Board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month
UPCOMING
EVENTS
Creating safe and welcoming school environments is a top priority in HSD. At all levels of our system, there are programs and initiatives under way to help ensure that students are respectful, responsible, and safe in their behaviors and interactions with others. The value of student safety is shared across the country, therefore many schools and organizations observe National Bullying Prevention Month in October. The goal of the national campaign is to e ncourage communities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying by increasing awareness of the prevalence and impact of bullying on children of all ages . For more information or ideas on how to implement bullying prevention efforts in your school or community, please see the Bullying Prevention page on our website.
