Coronavirus Paid Leave Programs Employer Guide

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act created new temporary paid sick leave and paid Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) programs that are 100% reimbursable by the federal government. The effective date of both programs was April 1 and they expire on December 31, 2020. Both programs are in addition to any leave you already offer. The U.S. Chamber has prepared an Employer Guide with all of the information you need to know.

Paycheck Protection Program

The Paycheck Protection Program is an SBA loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workforce employed during the COVID-19 crisis. The SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities. The program will be available through June 30, 2020.

YMCA Collaborates With Government & Health Officials To Offer Child Care Programs

The YMCA is committed to supporting parents who need to work during these unprecedented times. Our children need a place where they can safely enjoy being a kid - learning new things, being active, and having fun while being supported by caring adults.

The Y's top priority is the health and safety of each child and YMCA staff member. The Y adheres to the strict guidelines put forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the State Departments of Health and Education. YMCA staff has the most current and up-to-date training. And as always, the Y never wants to turn anyone away because they are unable to pay; they will work with each family on their personal situation. School age care is available for students grades K-6, preschool is available for kids ages 33 months-5 years, and early childhood care is available for children ages 6 weeks-33 months.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program, the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s John Kirchner, Executive Director - Midwest Region, will provide a summary of the legislation and share details how small businesses and self-employed individuals may prepare to file for a loan.

Guild's Annual Bash4Guild Goes Digital!

G uild Incorporated has made the tough decision to cancel their in-person Bash4Guild this year. That said, they are delighted to offer the 2020 Bash4Guild program and fundraiser online! The purpose of the Bash4Guild is twofold. First, it raises money for Guild's  Youth ACT Services . The ACT team works directly with young people experiencing mental illness in our communities. Second, the Bash spreads the message that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed about.

They need your help now more than ever. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of their clients are experiencing a great loss of resources. Their clients, who are living with mental illness and/or experiencing chronic homelessness, are going without necessary supplies and in-person social support to live safely during this time. While Guild cannot change what is happening in the world, they are working to change the lives of those they serve.

Guild had an inspirational program planned for their in-person event. Watch the video to see the full program that includes staff and client testimonials, sponsor recognition, music, and more!
