Congratulations to Dennis L. White, MSIT, DHA, CEO, Alliant/GMCF, who recently received the 2018 Public Service Award from the National Medical Fellowship (NMF) for his work with Alliant Health Solutions. He was honored at the Atlanta Champions of Health Awards Gala on October 29, 2018 at The Commerce Club.
NMF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented, minority physicians and other medical professionals to improve access to quality healthcare in underserved communities.
In accepting the award, Dr. White wrote, "The Public Service Award recognizes organizations that champion for healthcare parity for physicians and patients - making it truly humbling to receive this award. Since 1946, more than 30,000 medical students and physicians from underrepresented groups have received scholarships from NMF, including Adrienne Mims, MD, MPH, FAAFP, Alliant's Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.
"A vital part of our work at Alliant is addressing disparities in healthcare. To do this, we build and lead with peer review boards and patient advisory boards. They help guide our quality improvement efforts, making it critical that participants are representative of the populations and providers we serve. We deliver education to minority healthcare professionals to enhance their ability to be effective in improving the quality of care they provide. And, we support local organizations that represent the interests of minority physicians and their patients, such as the Georgia State Medical Association and the Atlanta Medical Association."
Dr. White was instrumental in the formation and operation of GaHIN, serving as Chairman of the Board until a few months ago. He continues to serve on the Executive Committee and Board. He is shown above with Dr. Denise Hines, Executive Director of GaHIN, and his award.
