Suicide prevention training for groups supporting those at risk

"Anyone in this room ever speak to a young person and it seems kind of clear that they don't have any coping skills? What might you say to that young person? Any ideas?"

Does your community know how to help someone in crisis? With the help of our free suicide prevention workshops, your group will learn  about risk factors, resiliency, and befriending those in need.  Interested in what one of our workshops looks like? Take a look at the video below from a workshop we gave during the Taunton  Youth Community Crisis Intervention Team Training!

Suicide Prevention Workshops for Gatekeepers
Loss survivors learn more about their grief after suicide

This week, in both Framingham and Fall River, suicide loss survivors gathered together at our presentation, After Suicide: Understanding Your Grief. These presentations, led by Jack Jordan, Ph.D, describe the pathways through grief that survivors may travel. If you attended one of these presentations, we thank you for attending and hope you found the information useful.

In a recent blog by Jack, he writes, " Suicide loss survivors are left with so many 'whys?' - why did they do this, why didn't I see it coming, why didn't I do more to stop them, why do people treat me differently now, why am I taking so long to 'get over' this?"  If you're struggling with the "whys," we encourage you to read the rest of Jack's blog and consider our free Grief Support Services.

In case you missed our big news, this year's Breakfast for Hope on May 15 raised a record-breaking $475,000! Your support of our programs goes such a long way in ensuring people across the Commonwealth have free access to suicide prevention, intervention, and post-vention services. Making a difference in the lives of callers and texters

Each day, people who struggle with loneliness, depression, or suicidal feelings turn to us for non-judgmental support. On the other side of the phone call or text message, they find a caring listener ready to provide emotional support. Our 300+ volunteers are making a difference every day in the community by being compassionate listeners. Our newest class of Helpline volunteers, pictured above, are ready to tackle their learning shifts and start taking calls and texts. We send a warm welcome our newest volunteers and encourage you to apply to become a volunteer for a life-changing experience.
