Counseling News
Scheduling for 2020-2021 School Year
Counselors will be presenting course options and scheduling information in English classes on the following dates:
Jan 17: Juniors
Jan 24: Sophomores
Jan 31: Freshmen
Students will be scheduled into core classes based on teacher recommendations and should talk with their current teachers if they have questions about their placement for next year. Counselors will meet individually with students in February during Theology classes to review core class placement and to schedule electives.
Senior Scholarships
The counselors presented scholarship information in senior Theology classes last Friday. Continue to look for scholarships this spring through your colleges, Bishop Watterson’s Naviance Site, Fastweb, GoingMerry, community organizations, and employers.
Please turn in a copy of all scholarship award letters to the guidance office, even for colleges you will not be attending, so that the information can be listed in the graduation program, graduation slides, and compiled for the class statistics.

Health Office Updates
Vaccination Requirements for Students Entering 12th Grade for 2020-21
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) requires that incoming seniors receive
ONE OR TWO
doses of the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) prior to the beginning of the 2020-21 school year.
The ODH is requiring a meningococcal vaccine to protect your child against meningococcal disease which is a serious life threatening vaccine-preventable infection. This bacterial infection can cause an inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord or sepsis (an infection of the bloodstream). Approximately 1,000 cases of meningococcal disease occur in the United States each year. The bacteria are spread by exchanging respiratory and throat secretions during close or lengthy contact.
for information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Vaccines can be administered by your pediatrician or your county health department.
A copy of your child's immunization record or a signed note from the physician will suffice for the documentation which must include the day, month and year of the vaccine(s). These can be turned into the BWHS school office at any time.

Cold & Flu Season
Reminder as we enter cold and flu season: students should be drinking lots of water. They are permitted to carry water bottles that are CLEAR during the school day. If they have a cough and are going to want cough drops throughout the day, those need to be sent in from home (the nurse does not have a supply in her office). The nurse cannot give out over the counter medication unless it has been sent in from home and the proper paperwork has been filled out. This includes Tylenol and Advil.
