It takes a team
Dreams of small business ownership are quite often hatched in the mind of a single entrepreneur. I emphasize with future and early entrepreneurs on the importance of building a team. Many small business owners will be the only employee in the early stages. But, that doesn’t mean they can’t build a team of supporters and advisors. This really is a must for these facts: 1) a new small business owner is not strong in all aspects of running a business, and 2) the owner likely doesn't have time to do it all.
Have employees? It can be challenging for an owner to focus more time on employees, versus the daily operations of the business. But, how do you get the magic of team synergy working in your favor? Synergy is defined as, “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” Each employee in a small business has some influence on business performance. However, a team working together will have a much greater ability to move a business much further forward than a small business owner can do by themselves.
