The Third Sunday after the Epiphany

Weekly Chimes

Brrrrrr... It is finally what I've asked for: COLD! But my request was for only a few days, so I will be pleased if it's truly 60 again on the weekend. In the meantime ODEC is anything but cold. This weekend will be full of interesting importance.

Sunday morning is our Annual Parish Meeting in the church at 9:15-10:15. We elect our next class of vestry members, review last year's accomplishments and activity, and talk about what's happening in 2020. There is so much happening! Of course we will discuss and answer your questions about the building project. But there is so much more happening too! Everyone has a stake in what we discuss, so come Sunday to worship and the meeting.

The Ordination service for our next bishop has been moved to the "Williamsburg Community Chapel" so if you are heading up, be sure to pay attention. Our bishop-elect used every bit of graciousness after thousands of Romans objected to Episcopalians worshiping in their church. We were there at the invitation of their pastor and bishop because no church in the diocese is large enough. But God will be glorified and we will celebrate with joy at the new location. In February be sure to come to our Wednesday night series on why I say the Episcopal Church is more catholic than the Roman Catholics.

Tonight we will talk about worship. "Liturgical Theology" helps us understand what we do, why, and what it means so that our worship truly brings us into that "close encounter" with Christ. Join us for chicken tetrazzini and salad at 6:00 and discussion from 6:30-7:30. Childcare is available.

Last Sunday the congregation in the Gathering walked outside and asked God's blessing on the bus home that Kristi K will use on her great musical career adventure as she makes her way west. We will have a basket out in the parish hall for anyone who wishes to make donations to give her some rainy day funds for gas and a generator. You can also give money to her friend, Jim Bulleit. We pray for our friend as she goes forth making music which brings joy and beauty to the world.

See you tonight and this week.
