Thanksgiving for me is still a relatively new concept. Right after Halloween is over I am DESPERATE to get the Christmas decorations from the attic, begin listening to Christmas music, and dig out the Christmas sweaters. This new added event plays havoc with my internally created calendar of events – similar to the lull between Christmas and New Year experienced by some. As the new guy, I find the concept of a day set aside to give thanks intriguing. Shouldn’t we do this daily?
(

Rejoice always,

pray continually,

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5)
. Absolutely we should! But let’s be honest, we get worn down by the world, we get ‘busy’ with work or school, we get caught up with our supplications and petitions forgetting about our adoration and thanksgiving. That is why I am thankful for Thanksgiving. I have come to appreciate Thanksgiving as a time to reset and remember to thank God. I thank Him for the blessing of this life in America. I thank Him for the blessing of my wife. I thank Him for the blessing of working with his children daily and for the many other blessings that he pours on my life.
I pray that you use this Thanksgiving to reset also and continue to give thanks to the one that gives us life each and every day!
