Since the BRAIN Initiative's launch in 2013, FAS Research Development has disseminated information via this newsletter about all of the funding opportunities related to the initiative. We send this newsletter to a targeted list of faculty, including  faculty affiliates  of the  Center for Brain Science  (CBS) and the  Mind Brain Behavior  (MBB) Interfaculty Initiative. Award Information:  Application budgets are limited to $500,000 in direct costs in any project year.  The total project period may not exceed 3 years. NIH  intends to commit an estimated total of $10 million in FY2020 to fund up to 7 awards.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages research grant applications directed toward developing next-generation human cell-derived assays that replicate complex nervous system architectures and physiology with improved fidelity over current capabilities. This includes technologies that do not rely on the use of human fetal tissue, as described in  NOT-OD-19-042. Supported projects will be expected to enable future studies of complex nervous system development, function and aging in healthy and disease states.
