A Letter from Our President
Moira Freshman Family Mass
Freshman Family Mass

Dear Magnificat Community,

As the month of October begins, we find much to celebrate in our students' academic and athletic accomplishments. For six decades, the beginning of October has heralded the kick-off of Night-in-Blue season. This student driven school-wide effort raises important funding for Magnificat, bringing our community together to celebrate all the good things God has done for us. Your local Blue Streaks are eager to reach their quotas, so please let us know if you would like to be matched with a student to purchase tickets or an ad.

As we use the latest practices in 21 st- century learning to prepare our students to be successful in our ever-changing global context, we remain grounded in the rich tradition of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. In this spirit, last month many students traveled to the HM Villa for Freshman Heritage Day and the Junior/Senior Service Retreat. The recent Cleveland Magazine article on our very own Sr. Helen Jean Novy captures well how the charism of the HM Sisters will be carried on through Magnificat's Mission for many generations to come.

Thank you for all that you do for this community. We look forward to seeing you at the Bazaar and Pasta Dinner next month!

In the Spirit of Mary's  Magnificat,
Moira Clark '77

A Prayer for October
by Katie Higgins '99, Theology Teacher

"The entire material universe speaks of God's love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God" (Pope Francis, Laudato Si').

God my loving Creator,
Your sacred presence surrounds me
and echoes in my heart.
May I marvel at the wonders
your hands have created
and may my spirit lift in gratitude
for the  graces  you shower upon me.
Teach me to reverence the  imago Dei
present in each person I encounter
and the inherent goodness of all creation,
so that I may walk in closer union with You
and with all that exists.
Amen.

We invite you to read the October Reflection on "Finding Inspiration with St. Francis."

Please join us this month on Wednesday, October 10 for the recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel.

Refills, Not Landfills
Our work of being green continues! As part of Magnificat's ongoing sustainability efforts for the 2018-2019 school year, we are working to create a campus free of single-use plastic water bottles.

By reducing consumption of single-use plastics and drinking tap water, we help minimize our ecological footprint.  We invite you to consider joining us in this effort by refilling, reducing, reusing, and recycling.
