OUR SERVICES
For the time being, we will be continuing to worship on-line via Livestream at 9am Sunday morning. Rev. Kevin Taylor will be leading the service.  All services are archived for viewing at any time.

Children's Sunday School will happen via ZOOM: 10AM for Little Zoomies (ages 4-7) and 10:35 AM for Big Zoomers (ages 8+). Just text your e-mail and time preference to Heather at 905-978-7610.

Please note that Cable 14 viewing has now ended.
You can also watch our services from YouTube.  You can click "Subscribe" once (free of charge) so the site is added to your YouTube for easy retrieval.

IN PERSON LIVESTREAM this Sunday!
We are planning to open up the sanctuary on September 13th. at 10:00 a.m. to provide the opportunity for those members and their caregivers who do not have access to a computer to view the livestream worship service on the large screen.

This gesture is not meant to be exclusive, but rather to offer a replacement service for those who have been watching the Cable 14 service which will no longer be available after September 6th.  The September 13th service will not resemble our pre Covid-19 worship service. It will simply be a viewing of the livestream worship service.  We will not have a choir, or a band present. We will not be singing.

We realize that some people are missing the opportunity to worship in person in the sanctuary. However we encourage those who can watch the service from the comfort of their home to continue to do so.  If you would like to attend, please contact the office. Henrietta will let you know September 11th if there is room available for you, but again, priority will be given to those who do not have access to the service online.

The following protocols will be put in place to ensure the safety of those in attendance:
  • The sanctuary will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to September 13th.
  • Mask wearing will be mandatory (Masks are available but we recommend that you bring you own.).
  • Entry will be via the large parking lot off of Fiddlers Green.   For those with mobility issues they may park in the Gilbert Street parking lot.
  • Visitors will be met by a greeter who will use a checklist for attendance/ contact purposes.
  • Attendees will be required to sanitize their hands (sanitizer will be available) and then will be escorted into the sanctuary and directed to an assigned pew where social distancing will be in place.
  • The washrooms located in the main hallway will be available for use ( one person at a time).
  • At the conclusion of the taped service attendees will be escorted to the exit doors (front doors) of the church.

We have a contingency plan to use the air conditioned Fellowship Hall if September 13th. turns out to be an extremely hot day.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

This week I received a call from someone who attended Marshall when it initially split from Ryerson.  While going through old family photos, Margaret Allender (Taylor) came across this photo that was taken after the first worship service at the Quonset Hut which is now Spring Valley Arena.  Margaret came in to the church and we had a lovely conversation about the history of Marshall, it's ministers, the stained glass windows and it's people.  It was a reminder that even though we are worshiping apart, we are still together as the people of God.

CHRISTIAN DEVELOPMENT
Hi everyone! It is hard to believe that the summer is almost over, and it's time to start getting back into the swing of things. Except, not really. With Covid still a thing, we are continuing to 'do church' digitally.  But that doesn't mean we aren't still connected. In fact, it's more important than ever to stay in touch with your faith family. Walking in God's Way and Serving in God's World is group activity!

It is a lot more difficult to stick to your spiritual practices when you're on your own.
That's why we are offering a number of ways to stay connected:

Coffee & Conversation:

One of the things people miss most about worshiping remotely is catching up with their friends on Sunday after the service. So - starting September 13th - we will be hosting a Zoom meet-up on Sundays at 11 am. Grab your favourite beverage, maybe a snack, and drop in for a chat.

Read & Reflect Daily Scripture Readings

Attached here is your calendar of Daily Scripture Readings for September. Reading and reflecting on scripture is the #1 catalyst to grow your faith, even more so when you engage in conversation about what you've read. So to help you out, we will be posting the scripture readings, reflections, and discussion starters each day on our Facebook Group.

It's easy to join our Facebook Group - Members and Friends of Marshall Memorial.
Just send Richard Hamilton a Facebook message, and he will add you to the group.

Zoom Bible Study - 1 pm on Wednesdays  starting September 16th
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." (Galatians 5:22-23)

Faith formation is the process of being formed into the likeness of Christ for the sake of others.  It is through this process that the Holy Spirit works in us, enabling us to Walk in God's Way and Serve in God's World.  Life in the Spirit produces fruit, which is the visible sign of our transformation. Focusing on and praying for the Fruit of the Spirit helps us grow in our faith.

In this 9-week study, we will be looking at the Fruit of the Holy Spirit as described by Paul in Galatians 5:22-23 - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Please contact Judy VanDuzer - judy.vanduzer@hotmail.com - to sign up for the group.  Here's a pdf of the Participant's Guide for the series.    If you are interested in this topic but unable to attend the Zoom group on Wednesday afternoons, please contact Judy and she will forward the material for you to study on your own.

Bible Study with Rev. Kevin - 7 pm on Wednesdays starting September 16th

Rev. Kevin is returning with his popular evening of study and reflection, focusing on the scriptures from the daily Read & Reflect calendar that will be basis of each week's sermon.

CLOTH FACE MASKS
We are very grateful to Diane Paton who has made and donated a number of cloth face masks to be given to people at Marshall Church.  If you would like to have one, please  email or phone the church office (also provide your mailing address) and a free mask will be mailed to you.  Thank you Diane for your work and generosity, as you help us protect ourselves and others.

For all those feeling creative and wanting to make their own, this link will lead you to directions that one of our members used to make her own.
