NORMALCY
RESPITE REIMBURSEMENT
We received funding to reimburse normalcy respite providers that are identified by foster parents. Funding will be available starting today and will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, until the funds are depleted. This funding will ONLY be offered for normalcy respite to strongly encourage the use of familiar caregivers or peer-to-peer support versus stranger care.

QPI NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Registration is now open for the QPI National Conference! This year's theme is "The Power of Connect: Harnessing Relationships to Transform Foster Care." The virtual conference will take place from May 24-27. To register, click HERE.
Foster Kinship Youth Support Groups
Foster kinship is offering four session youth support groups that are designed to provide meaningful strategies toward self-care and mindfulness. Each week will have a different focus with empowering messages supported by coping mechanisms for everyday life challenges. Details: Adoptive caregivers and professionals: Learn about the potential emotional, social, and behavioral impacts the pandemic has had on adopted children and teens, and gain an understanding of the unique strengths and struggles they may experience as they transition to a post-pandemic world. Participants will learn effective strategies to help young adoptees navigate this transition successfully by empowering their strengths and compassionately managing their struggles.

Details: This training will discuss the various emotions that parents/caretakers may encounter when interacting with their children. Participants will gain an understanding of various emotions and how children process them. Participants will also learn how to apply effective strategies to help manage youth behaviors and emotions in a positive and supportive manner.

Details: Open or closed adoption? That always seems to be the question! Research has pointed to open adoption demonstrating better outcomes for both the adoptee and their biological and adoptive families. This panel will give you an inside look at the different perspectives and life experiences of four adoptees — two who had open adoptions, and two whose adoptions were closed.

Details: Learn how mindfulness can support you as a parent! It's no secret that parenting is challenging, especially when you have a child/teen with trauma. In this experiential workshop, you will learn four evidence-based techniques to create more stability in your nervous system. You will learn how to apply mindfulness methods in your life so that tough moments are less intense. Mindfulness provides an opportunity to rewire your brain and nervous system. FOSTER PARENTS NIGHT OUT
Canyon Ridge Christian Church's Foster Parent night out is returning Friday, April 16 from 6-9 p.m. During this time, Canyon Ridge will provide children with a fun, safe, and nurturing environment so caregivers can enjoy respite. Space is limited and is open to all foster caregivers (licensed, unlicensed, relative, fictive kin). For more information and to register, click HERE.
