June Giving Items
Donations for the month of June are baby products and diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6 for Waypoint. Your donations may be left at the back entrance near the Welcome Center. Thank you for your generosity.

Brody's Blurb
It can be hard to invite an acquaintance to church. I understand that, although I hope you are more and more confident that your friends would enjoy Shueyville UMC. But, it is NOT hard to invite a family to Vacation Bible School!

Top Reasons to Invite Someone to VBS
-It's fun and the kids will love it!
- Kids are away for 2 hours and parents can get chores
done or spend some time together. Trust me, parents
  need and want this!
- We aren't going to scare the kids. We teach about the
  LOVE of God!
- Heather, our Children's Ministries Coordinator, is the
BEST at making sure the kids have an amazing
  experience.
- They just might want to come back!

So invite your neighbors or co-workers to bring their families to VBS. Seriously, text or message them RIGHT NOW so you don't forget!

Courageous Conversation
The next Courageous Conversation
addressing human sexuality and our faith will be Wednesday, June 26th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Put this on your calendars and check back in worship for some things to read in preparation for the session. Thanks for being involved and your willingness to listen to others and for the call of the Holy Spirit. UNITED BY THE LOVE OF CHRIST.

Maureen is Retiring
And we want to pray for her and
remember her service to God and
families. Please join us next week
at the 9:15 service to thank her.
She will be here early and stay late
if you come to the other services
and would like the opportunity to thank her in person.
Lord's Acre Sale Festival
The Shueyville United Methodist Church is inviting our church family, our community and friends to our Lord's Acre Festival, August 24th. After 70+ years of hosting a fall bazaar, the Lord's Acre Festival will be a time to celebrate the end of summer and kick off a new school year. There will be plenty of family and kid activities, and adults will have time to shop our popular market located in the main lobby. This area will smell of freshly baked goods, will have homegrown canned goods, arts, crafts and fresh produce, frozen corn,
meals and desserts for busy families. There will be three silent auctions, which will include theme baskets, gift certificates, donations from local businesses and handcrafted items. We welcome you to share in the delicious food and fellowship with friends and family at our Lunch Buffet. We will cap off the day with our live action from 1:00-3:00 p.m. featuring unique and useful items. All are welcome!
Lord's Acre Festival Preparation
It's time to start looking for high quality items to donate. Crafting or creating items or theme baskets to donate to the General Store or Live or Silent Auctions. We are looking for volunteers to help with both indoor and outdoor activities. If you are new to the church, this is a great way to get involved. Please ask Pastor Brody, Carol Crisman, Kevin Ireland, Cindy Ireland, Karla Rossow, Lori Winborn or any long time member with any questions you may have. Sign up sheets and Ministry Moments will be coming soon.  Stay tuned!
Supreme Seniors of SUMC Picnic
Cook Out
Friday, June 21st, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Swisher Park. Meat, table service and beverages will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. All are welcome to attend. Need not be a mature senior citizen to participate. In case of inclement weather, the picnic will be held at the SUMC church. In the event of weather watches or warnings for Linn or Johnson Counties, the event will be canceled.
PET Parts Delivery and Tour
We will be delivering 3000 PET parts on Tuesday, June 25th to Lighton,Iowa where they are assembled every Tuesday and Friday by volunteers. These machines provide transportation for people who live in the bush and do not have the use of their legs due to disease or land mines. Over 100,000 PET's have been sent to 99 countries. Each PET costs $250 but the needy recipient is provided with one free of charge. Our church budgets $2000 to purchase the steel and make axles and a nut plate for each PET. Imagine what it must be to gain your freedom and be able to transport yourself through the bush where a wheelchair could not go. We will be leaving the church parking lot at 8:00 a.m. and traveling caravan fashion 100 miles to Lighton. Please come early enough to arrange rides. After the tour we will dine in Pella and then return home. All are welcome to join us for a great tour and fellowship.

Coordinating Our Building Use
Are you needing a place at the church for a committee meeting or event? Please note that ALL scheduling of the building's use must be cleared and scheduled through Julie in the church office. This is not a "permission" issue, but we do need this central location for keeping track of the building's activities (we are thankful to be able to host a growing number of Boy and Girl Scouts this year!). Just drop an email or phone the office (848-7213), so there are no surprises. Thank you!
