Workshops Aim to Help Palm Beach Find a Better Way 
to Manage Development

As the town aims at streamlining the way it reviews building projects, officials want to make sure professionals and the public have a chance to weigh in on the changes.
The town will hold three workshops over the summer to gather support for reforming the review process for residential and commercial development applications.

Turtle Tuesday Beach Cleanups

The Turtle Tuesdays beach clean-ups are back in Palm Beach for another year. The clean-ups will be the second Tuesday of June, July, September and October. The first one was this week at Clarke Avenue beach, said representatives of the Worth Avenue Association, which hosts the event.
Anonymous Palm Beach Donors Spring for a New Holiday Tree on Worth Avenue
It's been nine years since Rush and Kathryn Rogers Limbaugh donated a 40-foot-tall holiday tree to Palm Beach for display on Worth Avenue each Christmas season. But that tree is in disrepair and needs to be replaced, Public Works Director Paul Brazil said Monday. "It's just deteriorating because of its age," he said.

Downtown West Palm Beach is Beginning to Look Like Big City
Over 30 projects in pipeline, including luxury condos and hotels. West Palm Beach will soon become the financial mecca of Palm Beach County. Millennials are moving their startup businesses to downtown near Clematis Street. Many are opting to work in a small business incubator called 1909, which just so happens to be the same year West Palm Beach was founded.

American television personality  Mehmet Oz, popularly known as Dr. Oz, attended a Turkish  parade in Brooklyn,  New  York, on June 9 to celebrate his Turkish heritage.  "I'm proud to speak at the Turkish-American Parade in Brooklyn. I love any excuse to celebrate the culture's focus on community and family," said Oz on Twitter.

Samples of blue-green algae in Lake Okeechobee have now tested at levels the Environmental Protection Agency considers unsafe for swimming. 
State Task Force Tackles Toxic Algae
Reducing harmful nutrients in state waters, through moves such as more monitoring and staffing, is an expected short-term goal of a new task force set up by Gov. Ron DeSantis to look at toxic algae fouling Florida waterways. But with a brief timeline for the five-member Blue Green Algae Task Force to reach its initial findings, don't expect proposals for massive state rule changes related to farming practices or moving away from septic systems.
