Gov encourages developing a strong mask culture

On Friday, the Governor announced that he is asking all Coloradans to wear cloth face coverings when they go out of the house for essential functions like grocery shopping. Data suggests up to 1 in 4 people infected with COVID-19 are asymptomatic and could easily spread infected respiratory droplets.

While masks offer minimal protection for the wearer, they make a big difference in helping to protect others if a person is infected and doesn't know it. The state partnered with ColoradoMaskProject.com, where people can find patterns for making their own masks and ideas for how to help others who can't make their own get one.

To learn more, read the FAQ document here. Also, here is a fun PSA from Nathaniel Rateliff encouraging people to wear cloth face coverings.

What about your pets?

I've had a few people reach out to me with questions on how families can best prepare for the impact of COVID-19 with regard to their pets. While there is no evidence that COVID-19 can spread to your pets, it is still important to have a plan in place for your pets if you or a family contracts the virus. Here is an info-graphic and blog link on how to make a COVID-19 plan for your pet.

Since the type is rather small, here's a quick summary:
  • Think about who should care for your pet if you are hospitalized
  • Prepare care directions in advance
  • Have adequate supplies on hand
  • Make sure your pet has proper identification
  • Jot down your local vet's info
  • Keep your pet close when sheltering in place
  • Contact the Denver Dumb Friends League for help if needed

Info on CARES Paycheck Protection Program

A key portion of the CARES act is the Paycheck Protection Program which allocates $349 billion in forgivable loans to help small businesses, independent contractors and nonprofits meet payroll and rent needs. This is a very important economic resource and I strongly encourage you to review this federal program to see how it can help your business.

For details on the Paycheck Protection Program's forgivable loans and a comprehensive list of state and federal resources available for Colorado's businesses, visit  coloradosbdc.org.
