Scam Alert

There is an active scam going on in our community where a recognizable business or person shows in your caller ID. In reality the scammers can make it look like ANYONE is calling.  NEVER give secure information over the phone without being 100% certain you know who is on the line.  We recommend when you receive a call like this to let them know you will call back. Hang up. Look up the phone number in a trusted resource: the business website, a past receipt or the phone book and then call them back.  If you realize you may have given sensitive account information out, please call us immediately.

Introducing Our New CEO

Our new CEO, Doug Wolf, started on September 10th.  Doug will work side by side with current CEO, Barb Brown, until her retirement at the end of this year.
Doug stated that, "Northwoods Credit Union is an outstanding local institution that shares my focus and passion for its members and the communities it serves. Under the leadership of the current CEO, Barb Brown, the credit union is in a good place and has that focus on the community that I was looking for. This quarter's winning submission is by Bosten McLeod and talks about how he's planning ahead financially.
Hello my name is Bosten McLeod and I'm going to be a freshman in high school here in Cloquet. I'm 14 years old and  I'm going to be getting a job so I can get job experience for future jobs. My parents suggested to split my earnings put half in the bank and half to spend for what I want now. I run cross country so it will be difficult to run, be in school, and have a job but I do not think it will be impossible. If I win the 100 dollars I will take half and save it and half will probably go to a new pair of headphones or a speaker for my phone. I'm currently saving up to buy a car when I turn sixteen.

My parents suggest I get a loan from Northwoods credit union for my car loan so I can start building credit early when I need to buy bigger things like a house I already have good credit early in life. I don't really know how credit works so it's nice to have people to rely on for help with knowing more. Both my parents own houses and my dad owns two houses so I have reliable people to help me. My main goal for money though is to be very good at saving money for the future and not spending it all on useless stuff and to be able to purchase a car when I'm a bit older and being knowledgeable with credit and keeping a good credit score.
