6/16 ~ finding beauty in a broken world
Join us as our Minister Emerita, the Rev. Dr. Ellen Johnson-Fay shares how we can achieve powerful moments of transcendence in the experience of brokenness and healing in a dance of connection with others. She writes: "I've heard it said that civilizations collapse because they listened to politicians instead of poets. I'll reflect on the wisdom of a few of my favorite poets in helping us cope with and, in some small way, heal our broken world, including Terry Tempest Williams, who, over a decade ago, inspired by the heartbreak of 9/11, wrote a book with the title I'm choosing for my message. I look forward to being with you."

walking the walk
All Souls is proud to be participating in this year's Colorado Springs Pridefest! In preparation for this joyous event, we will be having a sign and button making evening at the church, 5:30-7:30pm on Friday 6/28. Bring your poster board, your markers and your positivity and we'll create together in preparation for the parade and festival in July! Watch this space for more information regarding Pridefest in the near future.

calling all techies
We're looking for help to run our newly upgraded A/V system on Sundays. If you'd like to use state-of-the-art equipment to help make our services sound fantastic, please join our team. We'll bring you up to speed on our system, and you can schedule one Sunday morning a month at our A/V controls. Interested? Contact Rick Schwarz.

robson arena meeting
The final community meeting will be held 10:30am-12pm on 6/29. For more information, click here.

plant sale
We will be hosting a plant sale after church 11:30am-1pm on Sunday, 6/30. The event will be outside and will cover a wide variety of plants to purchase. This is a win win situation; you can pot up plants from those overgrown areas in your yard, eliminate the extra seedlings from the veggie seed packets and clear a bed for a different planting scheme. We need people to help by providing plants for the sale, but we will also need help setting up, running and clearing after the sale. That will give you an opportunity to scout out purchases for those unexpected bare spots that popped up after this unusual winter and spring. Next week look for an announcement with a sign up link. It is important to know what plants are coming and how much help we will have. The proceeds will go to repairing the sprinkler system for the yard and gardens.
For information please contact Becky Harrison at [email protected] or 719-540-9072.

king soopers rewards
The format for the use of King Soopers gift cards to donate money to All Souls has changed. You no longer need to have a physical gift card to designate funds for ASUUC. Go to the King Soopers website and sign in with your account or make a new account to go with your SooperCard. Once you do that, go the CommunityRewards website and search for "All Souls Unitarian." Click the "Enroll" button, and you're all set! Every time you shop at King Soopers, a portion of your purchase amount will be donated to ASUUC. There is no cost to you and the money is automatically donated to All Souls.

asuuc: future acoustic music mecca!
Terry Schultz needs people to help form a working group tasked with setting ASUUC up as a local acoustic music venue. If you are interested in music in any form and if you'd like to see All Souls as part of a city-wide (and possibly regional) network supporting acoustic music, plan to join us on Sunday. 6/9, at 12:30 in the Small Hall.
We anticipate our first folk music concert to be held in early Fall with the possibility of a national headliner in October.
We need people to handle complex components of this major task. This includes scheduling, booking, finance, promotion, and networking with local talent so they recognize ASUUC as a local, available, affordable venue.
Food (Subway sandwiches) will be served. Please RSVP to Terry so he knows what needs to be ordered for lunch.

asuuc logo cup clearance sale
Just 7 cups remain unsold from our original order, and we want to clear them out before placing a new order, so we're selling these orange-lid cups at $3 apiece. Remember, orange is the official color of Everytown For Gun Safety as well as Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America.

affinity groups
Our affinity groups are open to all! There is no enrollment period and no fee required. Friends are welcome! These groups share a common interest and provide opportunities to connect and deepen our fellowship outside of Sunday Service. Perhaps one is for you? For more information, please click here.

carolyn baker lecture and workshop
On 6/28 and 6/29, Pikes Peak Permaculture is hosting a lecture and workshop with Carolyn Baker,  who offers life and leadership coaching for people who want to live more resiliently in the present as they prepare for the future. On Friday, 6/28, at 7pm, Dr. Baker will give a talk titled "Placing Climate and Other Catastrophic Events Within a Larger Story," and will hold a workshop, "Living Resiliently in the Dark Night of the Globe," 9am-4:30pm on Saturday, 6/28. Both events will be at the Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies. This event is designed to offer us an alternative to being engulfed in emotions like fear, anger, sorrow, and despair. These alternatives include strategies such as inviting us to re-frame the questions and face our predicament honestly and courageously, supporting us in finding sources of meaning and purpose in a time of extinction, and offering a safe container for finding our way back to each other. Friday's lecture will cost $10-$20, while Saturday's workshop will run $80-$100. Advance registration is required. Please email Brian Fritz or call/text him at 719-645-5752.

concerns
Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers throughout this next week. June 13, this Thursday, will mark 3 years since my beautiful and beloved son took his own life and left a shattered family behind.
Remember my son, Alexander, by listening to and loving the teenagers in your life. Sometimes we don't see how much they need us.
Thank you. -- Angel & Family
