Year End Changes
As the year comes to an end, I wanted to reach out with a staffing update for the community.

This year we have three long time and much loved staff members retiring: our School Nurse, Mrs. Santino, our Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Conesa, and one of our Grade 2 teachers, Mrs. Costello. While we will miss them each greatly, we wish them a wonderful retirement.

We all so have a few other teachers who are leaving Brown School: Mrs. Gray,
Ms. Tsacoyeanes, and Mrs. Quintana. We wish each one of these teachers the best with their next adventures.

While I am sad to be saying goodbye to some of our Brown school community, we are thrilled to welcome several new faces.

First, I am very excited to announce that Samantha Van Leer will be joining our 4th grade team. Samantha is a current 4th grade teacher at Memorial.

I also wanted to welcome our new guidance counselor, Chamonix Adams. Chamonix comes to us from Brookline where she worked at the Runkle School as a guidance intern. We are very excited to have her join our Brown School team.

Next year Brown School will be growing our intervention team by adding two Title One teachers. Terri Yee and Emily Daly who will be joining us in the mornings this fall as part of our growing intervention team. Currently, Mrs. Yee and Mrs. Daly are Title One teachers at the Johnson School.

We are currently interviewing for the open vacancies and we will make another announcement when these are positions are filled.
Fourth Grade Step Up Ceremony June 14th
Early Release Day-Last Day of School
Dear Parents of Grade Four Students,

On Friday, June 14th we will have a very busy day at Brown School. The Fourth Grade Step Up ceremony will bring many visitors to our campus and I am asking you to help us by following these instructions.

Due to the construction this year, all parking will be off campus across the street at the following three locations : Hartford Presbyterian Church, only in the church spots (not in any of the Place to Turn spots), Temple Israel in the front of the temple only, and St. Linus Church, provided they do not have a funeral on June 14th.  We will have signs to direct you down the Hartford Street walkway to the back of the school cafeteria entrance.

We will have Handicapped Parking on the Brown campus . You will also be able to drop off family members who may have a difficult time walking.

If you are able to either walk from your house or carpool with family and friends we ask that you do so.

4th Grade volunteers should only park in a designated parking space in the rear of the school in order to bring items in through the rear doors. We are asking all parents to park off campus.

All guests for the Step-Up ceremony should enter the school through the cafeteria doors for the ceremony. In addition, please do not arrive at Brown School prior to 8:50 a.m. I will ask our volunteers to open the cafeteria doors at 9:00 a.m. No siblings at Brown School will be dismissed from classes to attend the step up for Grade 4 due to room constraints.

To prepare for dismissal, we need all visitors to exit by 11:30 a.m..

If you are leaving with your child prior to the dismissal bell, you can sign-out on the pink sheets on the attendance table at the celebration. If your child attends an after school program, please give the program notice and note your program on the sign-out sheet.
In addition to the Grade 4 Step Up Ceremony, the current students at Brown will be meeting their new teachers for next year as well earlier in the morning. If your child is not returning to Brown next year, please contact the office immediately.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Ben Gatto
