URISA Election Slate Announced

URISA's Leadership Development Committee recently presented its recommended slate of candidates to the URISA Board of Directors. The Board unanimously approved the slate, listed below, for its 2019 election. 

For President-Elect:

The official ballots will be distributed to the entire URISA membership by the end of June. The deadline for URISA members to cast their votes is July 30. To help members decide for whom to vote, each candidate will provide a profile of their professional experience and a statement about their ideas for URISA's future. URISA  and the International Association of Assessing Officers  (IAAO) are pleased to announce the 2020 GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Formerly known as GIS/CAMA, the event has been re-branded to take into account the abundance of technologies that, when integrated with GIS, make valuation and assessment more accurate, efficient and applicable for jurisdictions of all sizes.

Have you taken the GIS Service Pledge?

In partnership with Esri, GISCorps launched a program called the "GIS Service Pledge". Esri has committed to donating personal use licenses of its ArcGIS software for each GISCorps volunteer who takes a "GIS Service Pledge" to volunteer for a good cause.

URISA's GISCorps volunteers can leverage this software donation to support any topic or organization they are passionate about that meets GISCorps' mission and its policies, whether local or abroad. Examples could include supporting a local food bank, land trust, or animal shelter. For details, click here

U.S. NSDI Award Nominations Invited

The Federal Geographic Data Committee is accepting nominations for the Doug D. Nebert National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Champion of the Year Award until August 15. The award will recognize an individual or a team representing Federal, State, Tribal, regional, and (or) local government, academia, or nonprofit and professional organization that has developed an outstanding, innovative, and operational tool, application, or service capability used by multiple organizations that furthers the vision of the NSDI.
