Dear Daves Avenue Families,
Welcome back to school, a new year, and a new decade! January is always a great time to reset and start fresh with new goals to support your child’s educational journey. Absences, tardies, and being picked up early…oh my! Research shows that missing 10% of school, or approximately 18 days, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. Did you know that missing two days of school a month could be considered as chronic absence? Being late to school hurts a child’s learning, too. A student who is 10 minutes late every day will miss 30 hours of instruction during the year. We need your help to have your student at school every day and all day. Attendance matters!
At the Wednesday Wave this morning, Student Council leaders shared a culminating video of our school-wide community service project where over 500 hygiene kits were made by all of our students. The power of our Daves family is mighty and I know we will continue to make a difference in our community in the future. Congratulations to Siena Evans, Annika Kalele, Aasha Vittal, Ella Sutters, and Ameya Swami for joining the PAWS Club Hall of Fame today.
