Spring is the time for school districts to develop their budgets for the next school year. These budgets are based on enrollment projections, staff and operating cost increases, academic program plans and assumptions about state funding. Difficult financial decisions are ahead. Learn more HERE
Join us for a Community Conversation 
on equity, diversity & inclusion  
Community engagement and dialogue are critical to ensure that equity in our schools is more than just a concept. As we continue to develop a more coordinated commitment to equity and inclusion, the district will host a Community Conversation on Tuesday, April 16 at Clover Ridge Elementary, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Learn more HERE
Two opportunities to honor Teacher of the Year finalists  
Congrats to the this year's five Teacher of the Year finalists: Bill Gilness, Nina Kirkman, Mary Mobeck, Virginia Jackson, and Justin Newman. Parents, staff and community members are invited to honor the finalists at a community reception - the event is free and open to the public :

Thursday, April 25, 3 - 5 p.m.   
The Teacher of the Year will be named at an awards banquet, Sunday, April 28, at Oak Ridge Conference Center. Purchase banquet tickets HERE
District music programs earn high "notes" and recognition 
The district recently received two awards for its outstanding music education staff and programs:
  • Eric Songer, Chaska Middle School West Band Director, was named 2019 Music Education Innovator by the Give A Note Foundation. Grant funds support The Next Generation of Music Education, a public school program that opens up the world of chamber ensembles, pop, hip hop, improv and songwriting.
  • E. Carver Co. Schools music programs were named among the "Best Communities for Music Education" by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).
United for Student Independence Learning Series - April 15 
E. Carver Co. Schools Specialized Education Services will host a parent education workshop on April 15, 6-8 p.m., at Chaska High School. Learn more and register HERE.
