THIS MONTH'S MEDITATION
TODAY'S DAILY WORD
Joy

I FIND JOY IN THE PRESENCE OF SPIRIT.
Joy may appear to us as a noisy celebration. When feelings spontaneously bubble up, we may burst into song and dance. We lift our voices, beat the drums, and open our arms wide as we share our joy extravagantly with the world. Spirit expresses through us with all the sparkle and exuberance of fireworks displayed on a night sky.

At other times, joy appears as the quiet peace of knowing we are enfolded in the infinite love of the Creator. The world around us may disturb our thoughts and sadden our hearts. This is our cue to seek joy within as we experience the presence of Spirit. Withdrawing our attention from outer distractions, we open our hearts to experience oneness with the Divine. We move beyond any sadness or chaos to a place of joy.

You make him glad with the joy of your presence.—Psalm 21:6
THOUGHTS FOR THE SOUL
The greatest way to share a life centered on gratitude is through simple acts of kindness. Start first with your self and give up holding yourself to unrealistic expectations.
A CUP OF FAITH
Since it is the season of Thanksgiving, it seems only fitting to reflect on gratitude. Gratitude is without a doubt a character trait that is lacking in today’s society. Greed, selfishness, ambition and pride run rampant. The world’s motto continues to be, “Make yourself happy.” Such an attitude could not be more opposite from the Gospel. And yet as Christians, if we aren’t careful, we can adopt the same mentality.

One thing that has always impressed me about the Apostle Paul’s life was his humble attitude of thanks to God in Christ. Throughout his New Testament letters, Paul reminded the believers he disciple, and his friends, of how grateful he was for them. What strikes me, though, is that his gratitude was always directed at God, and not people.

As Paul reflected on the people he loved most, he always told them, “I thank God for you.” Many times, especially of special occasions like Thanksgiving, we express our gratitude to the people we love. We ponder the blessings of God in our lives. We pause from the hustle and bustle to say, “thank you.” Maybe we write them a note, email, or text message. Maybe we update our status on Facebook or twitter. But, at whom is our thanksgiving directed?

While it is important to remind those we love that we are grateful for them, it is supremely important to remember from Whom these people come. Directing our thanks at the One who gives the gift keeps us in a posture of constant praise and humble gratitude, instead of waiting for a holiday to remind us of the good gifts He has given.

What are you thankful for and who? As you reflect on God’s greatest gifts in your life, remember Who to thank first. And may that gratitude spill over into the lives of the friends and family you celebrate.

“I thank my God every time I remember you.” Philippians 1:3
NOVEMBER AFFIRMATIONS
WHAT ARE AFFIRMATIONS?
Affirmations are positive statements of Truth. By affirming Truth we are lifted out of false thinking into the consciousness of Spirit. Each time we pray positively and faithfully, we are calling forth the divine activity that is always within us.
We focus on these affirmations throughout the month for greater expression of our divine inner light. Giving thanks in advance, we claim each of the affirmations as true for ourselves and our loved ones, remaining open and receptive to the highest good for all.

HOW AFFIRMATIONS WORK:
"One who knows spiritual principles has a certain inner security given him by the understanding of God. Our affirmations are for the purpose of establishing in our consciousness a broad understanding of the principles on which all life and existence depend.
"In order to demonstrate spiritual principles, we must keep establishing ourselves in certain statements of the law. The more often you present to your mind a proposition that is logical and true, the stronger becomes that inner feeling of security to you.

Affirmation works because of the faculty which is most directly involved in affirmation-faith. Affirmation plays an important part in the process of divine ideas becoming facts and experiences in man's existence on earth.

The Month of November Affirmations:

Inner Peace
I breathe in an atmosphere of God’s perfect peace.

Guidance
By the light of divine wisdom, I know the way to go.

Healing
All conditions are harmonized and healed in the presence of God life.

Prosperity
In a spirit of thanksgiving, I thrive.

World Peace
I am a visionary of peace within and among all people.
