The Desert Rings
Bells of the Sound and the Desert Bells are teaming up to execute The Desert Ring in Richland, WA, on Saturday, May 14. This year, handbell choirs will choose to be in Tins or Coppers as well as perform in a mass ring, directed by Bells of the Sound's director, Shirley Lindberg. This is a great opportunity for ringers in Eastern Washington, Idaho, and Northeast Oregon to come together for some great ringing and learn more skills in classes given by capable instructors! We look forward to a 2nd successful Desert Ring!

Columbia River Celebration of Bells
Here's a wonderful new opportunity for your handbell group to perform for a large audience at The PAC of Wenatchee (Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee)!
Columbia River Celebration of Bells
Date: Saturday, May 14
Location: The Performing Arts Center (PAC) of Wenatchee
123 N. Wenatchee Ave., Wenatchee, WA 98801
Time: 7:00 pm
Sponsored by: The Wenatchee Valley Appleaires
Sign up time: Now!
This brand new festival is designed to promote the joy of handbell ringing and the opportunity to network with other enthusiastic handbell choirs and directors. Each group will have their own performance space and time for setting up their tables and bells prior to the program. Each group will have a scheduled rehearsal time before the program in their designated spot in The PAC.
Song titles will be submitted as soon as possible by the handbell directors to ensure no repetition of songs. We'll share this information as we receive it so all groups will be kept up to date and aware of the selected music. We encourage groups to play favorites from their current repertoire of secular and/or sacred music, as desired.
Audition tapes or CDs will be needed, including at least 2 pieces from a recent performance. We expect to have four to six handbell choirs perform for up to 15 minutes each. Adult and children's choirs are most welcome. We encourage creativity and individual expression. Groups must provide their own tables and all other instruments and materials needed.
If you are short a ringer but would still like to participate, there will very likely be ringers available from other groups who will happily stand in and play, as needed. Please communicate this need when you're signing up, or as soon as possible before the concert, so we can be better prepared to assist you.
We'd like to have 3 mass ringing numbers, and we'll determine those numbers with the assistance of the directors, as soon as possible. Music may be suggested from each group's current repertoire. Copies will be shared as allowed by copyright laws. There will be a mass ringing rehearsal just prior to the program, under one or two directors.
After festival expenses, ticket proceeds go to the Appleaires Music Scholarship Fund. The Appleaires will not charge event entrance fees for performing choirs. The Appleaires will provide a mid day potluck meal for participants and participants' guests. Questions are welcome! Thank You, Judy Kelts
To sign up ASAP write Judy Kelts at dkeltsj@aol.com, or call her at 951-769-3615 before March 16, and at 509-884-7218 after March 18. Audition tapes or CDs should be mailed as soon as possible to Shellie James at 28 Columbia Siding Rd., Rock Island, WA 98850.
