Bread Baking Ministry Meeting
June 16, 9:15 am
The bread and the wine received during the Eucharist are “‘touching’ and ‘being touched’ by God moments”– very sacred and powerful actions of sharing the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior. It is also sacred and powerful when a Bread Baker prepares bread that is then blessed, broken, and distributed as the spiritual food of Christ. You can be a part of these powerful moments.
The Bread Baking Ministry is open to anyone who is interested in contributing to the celebration of the Eucharist. You do not have to be a ‘bread baker’ to participate in this ministry. Six to eight bakers rotate throughout the church seasons providing bread once every six to ten weeks. A standardized bread recipe is available to make a single batch for one Sunday of two services. Extra bread is kept in the freezer for use every six weeks or when emergencies arise and bread is not available otherwise.
Bread Baking Ministry meetings can be held semi-annually to share tips, ideas, and challenges. If you are interested in participating in this ministry at St. Francis of Assisi, let a bread baker or Gay Kuykendall know and plan on attending the
meeting in the church office.
Our current bread bakers:
Jan Baird, Traci Cronkrite, Paula Robke, Dale Rushton, Joyce Skogen, Linda Tasker.

The beautiful artwork on display in the narthex is by Portland area artist Karla Piatt.
Karla cuts flat glass then fuses the pieces in a kiln. The result is an imaginative work that flows naturally such as salmon in a river, a galloping horse or birds in the air.
Karla grew up in California and was educated at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo. She earned a master’s degree from Portland State University. She is a computer science professor at Portland State. She and her husband Robert reside in the Portland area.
Our Priests
We will be using supply priests until we have a new Rector. Christine Wysock will have to be off for a few weeks in June, so we have contacted supply clergy. Jim Schoenrock will be having knee surgery. He will be available as his recovery permits. We will also have Deacon Ken and Marcia Burdon available for preaching.
Please direct any pastoral care questions or emergencies to Deacon Ken Russell.
Call Ken at 503-887-5587.
