Legislative Office Presentation May 14, 2019
On May 14, 2019,  Real Estate Center Director, John Glascock, had the opportunity to speak in front of State Representatives of the Legislative Office. Professor Glascock spoke to the economic and demographic shifts occurring in the U.S. and as a result, the impact it has on the state of Connecticut. 

Glascock was invited by Rep. Kerry Wood, D-Rocky Hill, who said information on regional, national and international economic and demographic shifts is key "to craft policy that helps us be more business friendly."

CoreNet Global Hartford Luncheon


 The Real Estate Center had the opportunity to co sponsored the CoreNet networking, luncheon event on April 30, 2019.  The event was held at the UConn Graduate Learning Center, 100 Constitution Plaza in Hartford.  Approximately 60 people attended the Corporate Real Estate Professionals luncheon.   David Hawkins, Executive Managing Director, Cushman & Wakefield, served as moderator for the panel that consisted of Cindy Leary, VP, Lead Strategic Planner, Citizens Bank, Jim Ryan, Director, Global Workplace Strategies, Pitney Bowes,  and John Matos, Real Estate Manager, Stanley Black & Decker.

Paul Durrah - Google - Corporate Real Estate Visit
On April 15, 2019 Paul Durrah, Director, Corporate Real Estate NYC presented to the Real Estate Society students.  The students learned about the intricacies of corporate real estate and what that looks like for Google. 

Google is in the midst of a 7-year multi faceted plan to address their employment needs in their New York City headquarters in the Hudson Square neighborhood known as Chelsea Market.  Mr. Durrah talked about the challenges and rewards of working and ultimately meeting Google staffing needs  in providing an excellent environment in their New York City offices.

Internship Highlights 2019
This Summer, Devin Pallanck (Economics 21') and Kristina Kasper (Real Estate 21') are working at the UConn Real Estate Center for their second consecutive year. Devin is focusing on delivering and creating newsletters while Kristina is organizing Real Estate Center records. Together, they are assisting Professor Cohen with various projects.

2019 Student Placement
The Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies has many students who have received full-time or internship placement for 2019, and are still in the process of placing others. Real estate students have or are in the process of completing what many consider to be one of the best academic real estate programs in the country.

Spring 2019 Calendar 
Fall 2019 Real Estate Society Events -  The Real Estate Society meeting are scheduled for every Wednesday, 6:00 PM Busn room 214.  The Society will hold several social/networking events throughout the semester. Students should watch for emails from the Real Estate Society for details on these events. In-classroom professional speaker events are currently being scheduled.
