Senior Spotlight: Audrey LeBlanc
Note: Each week, we will feature 1-2 seniors with a spotlight article, written by a staff member.
This article was written by teacher Bari Boisvert
When a student has empathy, drive, and tenacity all in one package, they are the real deal. Those are the three words that immediately come to mind when I think of Audrey Leblanc. Meeting Audrey for the first time, one would think she was intensely serious and doesn’t have time for the mediocrity that sometimes bogs down a classroom setting. Yet, once one gets to know her, they find that yes, she is serious and doesn’t have time for nonsense, but she is also deep thinking, empathetic and has a great sense of humor.

Audrey was a shining light in my AP Literature and Composition class. She was serious about her work and responsibilities, but also had a side that was caring and mischievous. She is definitely that one student that, with perfectly synced eye contact, knows what I am thinking and smirks or cracks up with me at the same time. My favorite memory was what she did in January when, after a long battle, my Golden Retriever Cameron, succumbed to cancer. Everyone knows how “obsessed” I am with my dogs and I was devastated. Audrey and another student rallied the class to sign a card and share some teacher gifts. Oh, the chocolates were the clincher. These organizational skills are also why she has been the Student Council president for two years and I am so very thankful, as the advisor, to have her by my side.

Others feel the same way about Audrey...

Mme Hambucken said of Audrey:
I've had the pleasure of having Audrey in French class for the last three years, and she brings a lot of life to all that she does. She has spunk, creativity, intelligence, and drive, which make for a successful student. More importantly though, she shows concern for her classmates, teachers, family, and everyone she encounters. She's a gem who will continue to make her mark on Sanborn before moving on to do great things in the world. Félicitations à Audrey!

Mr. Worlburt said: Audrey is awesome, she always dedicates herself to do the best job that she can, both in the classroom as well as on the tennis court. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the privilege of being both her teacher and her coach and I know her positive attitude will take her far.

Mr. Conant said She was an absolute pleasure to have in class. She truly understand the importance of education and was always willing to put in the extra effort.

Former Sanborn teacher and Student Council advisor Holly Price had this to say about Audrey: Audrey has been a dedicated and influential member of the student council , setting high standards for herself and the organization. Audrey has been honing her leadership skills as she unites the four classes and was always a pleasure to work with.

The student body is very fortunate to have Audrey represent them and as a teacher I have been very fortunate to have worked with her as a student and more importantly known her as the caring young adult she has become.
Sanborn Shop Students Rebuild Historic Kingston Signs
In preparation for its 325th birthday in 2019, the Kingston Heritage Commission is looking to bring to life a piece of its past. For many years, signs greeted travelers who entered and exited the town roads welcoming them to town and/or asking them to visit again. The signs were removed many years ago after the frames rotted away, but they will soon be back!

For the last several months, Sanborn Regional High School students worked with woodshop teacher Jack Kelly to make new signs with composite material that will not rot. The new signs are exact replicas of the originals. Today, the students had the opportunity to hand the signs over to Debby Powers, George Korn, Eileen Clifford, Glenn Coppelman, and Ernie Landry from the Commission.

Thank you to the following students for their hard work on this project: Darren Bean, Brian Kimball, Dylan Judd, Alex Coulombe, Chase Brisson, Liz Kimball, Sesyle Cook, Steven Daly, Aidan Perry, and Nolan Duquette.

At a later date, these signs will once again welcome travelers as they come and go from Kingston, and our students will know that they played a small part in helping keep history and tradition alive for our community. There is, perhaps, no better opportunity to engage in an authentic learning project that has a service component than this one.

Austin 17 House Hosts Holiday Extravaganza
An Update From Southern Rockingham Coalition for Youth (SoROCK)
Hello Sanborn Community!
It seems that Winter has found us a little early this year! I hope everyone is staying warm. SoRock was very busy over the end of Summer into the Fall! We enjoyed meeting many people at the Ellis School open house and Girl Scout Safety Event in September. In October our towns participated in the DEA Drug Take Back day and some of our Sanborn Leo’s were even able to partner with the police department this year!  We participated in the Sanborn Senior Day of Caring and conducted a focus group to gather the important insight of teens on substance misuse trends in their communities. We also launched new sessions of both our P.A.S.T.A Caregiver and grandparent support group as well as Staying Connected to your Teen workshop’s. In October we also partnered with the Austin 17 House, UNH Cooperative Extension and the NH Chapter of the National Society for Suicide Prevention on 2 mental health and suicide awareness events for parents and community members. October ended with Red Ribbon Prevention Awareness week and we kicked off November with presentations to both HS students and the community by International mental and physical health/performance expert John Underwood!

SoRock is a community-based coalition with over a 25-year history of working collaboratively with federal, state and local organizations to help promote, support and sustain healthy choices for families in our communities. We do this by actively working to reduce and prevent alcohol, marijuana, prescription and other drug misuse.  SoRock relies on community engagement to be successful in it’s mission. Please visit our website sorocknh.org or follow us on social media @SoRockNH to stay up to date on prevention programming and events in the area.  If you would like to get more involved reach out to me at sorocknhcc@gmail.com or give me a call anytime at 603-642-3341 x 196.

An Important Message From School Administrators:
PTO Clothing Donation Bins
When you drop your unwanted clothing off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
