Celebrating 20 years of ministry with FCC! More pictures below.

Reflection for Worship. . .

Thank you! We were the recipients of tremendous gratitude and love from our congregation this past Sunday as we celebrated 20 years as your Co-pastors! Our hearts were full as you showered us with kind words, gifts and care. Ministry is shared work and we have done so many wonderful things together in the past two decades - people cared for, lives touched, faith nurtured, resources shared! It has been an extraordinary journey to Co-pastor this congregation, and a privilege to be invited into so many lives. To all who planned, helped, donated, attended and blessed us, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We appreciate the ministry that we have done together over these years and we look forward to the next stage of our life together at FUMC Pasadena.

A special thanks to coordinators Grace Rinck and Neva Orr, as well as: Lu Burd, Brian Cordova-Brookey, Wesly Moore, Kim Story and Josh Ashenmiller, Connie, our choir, Sallie - and the many, many others who labored on our behalf to make the event a wonderful one. Thank you all!

- Co-Pastors, Jake & Marlene Pomeroy

Also this Weekend:

We are helping Friends in Deed coordinate their holiday giving on Saturday and Sunday. A group of us will gather at Friends In Deed on Los Robles/Washington from 10AM-2PM on Saturday Dec. 15th to organize all the gifts for the more than 75 children/youth who will be picking up gifts on Sunday. Thanks to the adults who have said yes to helping. If anyone else is interested please contact Pastor Marlene.

In addition, children and youth are urged to join us Sunday Dec. 16th from 11:30AM-4PM(ish - may be done earlier) at FID to pass out the gifts to all the children.

Also on Sunday:

Our two confirmands - Elle Leckrone and Kamryn Beasley - will be commissioned in worship for their Confirmation journey which will take place between now and early May. Please keep them in your prayers as they explore our faith tradition.

Our Christmas Pageant in Four Parts will continue this Sunday as the children and youth tell the story in word and song for us. Thanks to Connie and the teachers for coordinating our pageant this year in a unique way!

NOTE: there is NO Tour of FUMC this Sunday Dec. 16th  as we had hoped. There is simply too much going on and too few folks to help out. We will try and schedule a tour in early January for those who are interested. Please let Pastors Marlene or Jake know of your interest. Our first Sunday worshiping at FUMC is a combined service at 10:00 a.m. with the FUMC congregation on Sunday Jan. 27th in their sanctuary followed by a lunch together. Our regular service will begin on Sunday Feb. 3rd in their chapel at 11:30 which will be our regular worship space.

Also This Week -

Pledge Update: We have now received 25 pledges for for 2019 for a total of $104,620 (compared to $167,000 for 2018).  Our Budget committee respectfully asks you to turn in your pledge cards this week so they can finalize a budget for 2019. You may turn in a pledge card Sunday, OR email Treasurer Barb Bonzo at [email protected] Many thanks to all who have turned in pledge cards!

Save the Dates:
Our Bad Weather Shelter dates for 2019 are Saturday January 19th and Sunday February 17th. Please email the Co-pastors or tell Joey Bland if you can help us serve a meal and set out cots on either of those dates. 12-16 people are needed each night.

Our church school children will be meeting in Nina's office area between Christmas and the end of January.

Our Transition Continues

This  week the new owners are continuing to run wiring for new internet and phones throughout the building and the church parlors are being renovated - the green seating has been removed and all the parlor walls have been repainted. See photos below!

Staff and church members continue to sort and pack rooms in the building in preparation for our move in December/January. We will head to our new temporary home at the First United Methodist Church on 500 East Colorado here in Pasadena starting Sunday Jan. 27th in a combined worship service with FUMC in their sanctuary at 10:00AM. On Sunday Feb. 3rd we will worship on our own in the FUMC Chapel at our new time of 11:30AM.

We need to leave our church nursery and our Co-Pastor's office by the end of the day on Dec. 26th. The new nursery will be set up in the current Youth Lounge for us to use through January. We continue to worship in our sanctuary through Christmas Eve.
After Dec. 31st we will have access to the following through Jan. 31st: our offices (except the pastor's office), the chapel and one or two parlors, our youth room (which will be our nursery). All other spaces will revert to the new owner's use and their new tenants.

             All Saints Church
A memorial service was held at All Saints Church Pasadena on Tuesday to honor the 11 homeless men and women in Pasadena who died in 2018. It was a beautiful and respectful ecumenical service followed by a meal served by members of All Saints. It also held up the need for us to continue to work on providing a safe place for all to sleep in our city.
