Finalist in CBC's Music Challenge
Hillcrest Elementary's performance of Wolves Don't Live by the Rules has earned them a top 10 finalist spot in CBC's Canadian Music Class Challenge. Two entries each from Hillcrest Elementary and Bastion Elementary were part of the more than 1,200 videos in the challenge! On December 11 the top ten finalists from across Canada ( finalists can be found by clicking here) were announced with Hillcrest earning a spot in the MusiCounts Passion Prize. Check out our talented local students here:

Early Present!
The district received an early present this year as the latest round of data on red light runners (vehicles passing school buses when the red lights are flashing) has DECREASED! In October there were 29 red light runners and in November it dropped to 15. "We are noticing a positive change in our statistics," comments Andrea Kathrein, Manager of Transportation. She thanks the public for being more bus aware and to the local RCMP for being so supportive in helping the district keep students safe!
Encouraging gardening
The Grindrod Garlic Festival received five applications from schools for its $500 award to encourage gardening. Instead of just awarding the one prize they went out and found others who would support all of the applications!

Nature in the classroom
They may look like pieces of trees . . . okay they are pieces of trees . . . but these tree blocks are also for fun and learning!

Drumline in Santa Parade
The A.L. Fortune Falcon Drumline took part in the recent Santa Claus Parade in Enderby.
PVSS girls play Knights
The PVSS Senior Girls Volleyball Team played volleyball against the North Okanagan Knights Hockey Team in a "fun" fundraiser for the Armstrong Food Bank on Nov. 7th.
