LUNAR NEW YEARS DECORATIONS REQUEST
Hi Parents! The AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Club will kick off their club's first event by celebrating Lunar New Year during the first week of February 2
nd (after finals). We are excited to support the students' decision to celebrate Lunar New Year and the students need your support! We would like to extend the invitation to parents to get involved.
The AAPI students have decided to celebrate this auspicious holiday by decorating the hallways at BHS. They will make most of the decorations, but they would like to supplement their decorations with authentic ones to display the main hallway and the hallway in the PAC. Students would like to request donations from parents to help them with these decorations. If you have any decorations to contribute, please contact Lynda Hurley (hurleyl@bsd405.org) or Ululani Ortiz (ortizu@bsd405.org), the advisors for the AAPI club. We promise to store the decorations so we can reuse them and slowly add to our collection! We would love it to become a new tradition at BHS!
This is the newest link for the decorations for the Lunar New Year celebrations. Thank you so much for your support. I was informed that the sign up genius I created earlier was either sold out or would not be here in time. Please drop off the item with Keri at the main office. Thank you!
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F054BADAE2BAAFB6-lunar
Please drop off at the main office. We would love to have the decorations before January 31st.
Sincerely,
Ms. Ortiz and Ms. Hurley

This statewide essay contest explores the important and varied influencers in the lives and education of children - from the children's perspective. Every day children are exposed to a variety of people and each one has an opportunity to influence the path a child decides to take. Whether it is someone that sparks an interest in a new topic, helps them work through a problem, shapes the kind of person they want to become by modeling behavior, simply listens to them, or any number of other actions, this is the platform for students to share their appreciation. The application deadline is March 1 each year. More information can be found at
https://www.wastatepta.org/events-programs/pta-essay-contest/
Note: Although the name has changed and the focus has shifted, the guidelines and divisions remain the same.
