Thank You for Your Support
As we begin to finish up 2018 and embark on this new year, we reflect back on the generous alumni, parents, and community friends like yourselves who have continued to support our school throughout the last 90 years.

We know that you have many choices for your charitable giving and we ask that you prayerfully consider our annual fund and capital campaign for your year-end gifts.

The York Catholic Fund
The YC Fund not only supports every student by enriching extra-curricular programs and music and the arts, but also provides professional development for teachers, academic program support, athletic programs, technology, special projects, and covers operating expenditures. This year, we have a fundraising goal of $300,000 by June 30, 2019.

Students Give Back
Giving Tree
The senior high Student Council is collecting NEW hats, scarves, and mittens for those in need in our community. Items can be placed on the Giving Tree in the lobby at York Catholic until  December 19.

Coat Drive
The National Honor Society is collecting gently used coats for their Coat Drive. A collection box will be in the lobby until  December 19. The coats will be donated to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.

Toy Drive
Students are currently collecting Christmas presents for the children who are patients at Hershey Medical Center, in remembrance of Jacob Gurrerri. Parents of the children at Hershey will be able to choose some gifts and have them "delivered" on Christmas Eve.

Chris Gurreri, a YC graduate, is coordinating this toy drive in memory of his brother Jacob, who was five-years-old when he died. This is the 13th year anniversary of his death.  The Gurreri family was fortunate enough to stay in the Ronald McDonald House during the three weeks that Jacob was being treated at Hershey Medical Center.

The Ronald McDonald House offers the following gift ideas (MUST be new, unwrapped items in original box):
  • Stuffed animals
  • Coloring books and crayons/markers
  • Books
  • Board games
  • Children's movies
  • Action figures
  • Dolls
  • Legos
  • Christmas stockings with stocking stuffer items
  • Blankets
Students are asked to have all toys to their homerooms by the morning of Tuesday, December 18, at 8:15 AM. Thank you for your generosity this holiday season in helping to make Christmas a little brighter for the children who are in the hospital.

Staff Update
Mrs. Roxanne Castellanos will be leaving us next week to accept a position at York College.  Mrs. Castellanos has been a teacher's aide in the Academic Assistance Center for the past 3 years, as well as an assistant in the Advancement Department.  Ov er her 10 years with York Catholic, she has helped in the Guidance Department, Main Office, and as the president of the Home-School Organization.  We thank Mrs. Castellanos for her dedicated service to York Catholic and look forward to continue seeing her here at YC as a volunteer.
Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system. Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, Fox43, and the YC website. Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS. The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.
