Lasalle Lumber - Urania, LA

Hunt Forest Products and Tolko Industries Ltd. teamed up to build a new $115 million lumber mill next door to the Drax Lasalle Bioenergy facility in Urania, LA. Once completed and operational, the Urania sawmill will require up to 850,000 tons of wood per year, with plans to
produce approximately 200 million board feet of lumber annually.
Southern Industrial Contractors started the site work on Easter weekend of 2018. SIC is performing all site work, underground storm drainage, rail loadout foundations, scale foundations, T-shed foundations, and placement of 22 acres of concrete paving along
with the cement soil stabilization. SIC is utilizing our onsite central mix concrete plant for concrete production. This sawmill is scheduled to operational by the end of 2018.

As one of U.S. Steel’s oldest business lines, U.S. Steel Tubular Products introduced the first seamless drill pipe to the oil and gas industry before World War I. The 1963 Buttress Thread, which was adopted as an
API standard
, remains the foundation for many of the industry’s premium connections.
US Steel recently added a new threading line to their existing tubular threading facility in Houston, TX. For this expansion, Southern Industrial Contractors was chosen by US Steel to perform the site work, concrete foundations and slabs, structural steel erection, pre-engineered metal building erection, overhead bridge crane installation, masonry, and numerous other scopes of work. Southern Industrial Contractors completed this expansion in seven months.

JW Aluminum - Goose Creek, SC

JW Aluminum expanded its Mount Holly flat rolled aluminum plant in Goose Creek, South Carolina. This project, referred to as Boilermaker, will greatly enhance JW Aluminum’s capabilities to serve its primary end markets.
The facility’s growth is expected to bring $255 million of capital investment and lead to the creation of 50 new jobs.
The new MINO Hot Tandem Mill will be installed in line with a Hazelett Twin Belt Caster using the Hazelett Twin-belt Continuous Casting Process. The mill will be capable of continuously rolling, dividing and coiling aluminum strip with a max. width of 2000 mm (78.74”), down to a minimum gauge of 2.5 mm (0.1”).

Model AS2000 casting machine being supplied is capable of producing 2000 mm wide strip at approximately 50 metric tons per hour. Alloy capabilities include 1XXX, 3XXX, 5XXX, and 6XXX series.
With this new expansion, the plant will be one of the most efficient and green aluminum production plants in North America.
Performing under the direction of O'Brien & Gere Engineers (OBG), Southern Industrial Contractors has been performing the site work and heavy concrete structures for the new Melt Building. These included 4 new Mecatherm melting furnace foundations and 2 new Mecatherm holder foundations. SIC is also installing the sheet pile cofferdam for the new MINO Rolling Mill foundation. JWA expects construction to be complete in early 2020.

Corrigan OSB L.L.C.

Roy O. Martin Lumber has completed its $280 million new oriented strand board (OSB) in Corrigan, Texas. This project encompasses over 158 acres and 1,854 construction jobs. Southern Industrial Contractors installed the new rail loadout facility and
performed the site work, concrete foundations, concrete slabs, and pre-engineered metal building for this scope of work.

Reynolds Consumer Products - Malvern, AR

In 2013, Southern Industrial Contractors performed a 5-month turn-around at the Reynolds Foil Coiling Facility in Malvern, AR which included the removal of existing furnaces and their replacement with a new Hertwich-SMS melting furnace. SIC performed the demolition, the new melting furnace installation, and the installation of the refractory. SIC continues to perform work for Reynolds on new upcoming projects. In the summer of 2018, Southern Industrial Contractors added additional ingot storage at this facility.

Amite Bioenergy - Gloster, MS

In 2014 Amite BioEnergy began improvements to the Amite facility which included new log crane foundations, truck dumps, in plant roads, conveyors, dry storage silos, and other upgrades which are anticipated to increase pellet production by 75,000 tons. SIC has been performing at this Amite facility since 2014, and this year, SIC performed numerous projects including upgrades to the log yard, underground gas line modifications, and plant wide drainage improvements.

LASALLE BIOENERGY - OLLA, LA
Drax Biomass Inc., a leading manufacturer of sustainably sourced compressed wood pellets, began start-up production at its newest facility, LaSalle Bioenergy in Urania, Louisiana in November 2017. This facility is capable of producing approximately 450,000 metric tons of wood pellets per year. As part of the plant upgrades, SIC mobilized in our rock crusher to crush approximately 12,000 tons of existing concrete structures. SIC also mobilized in our portable concrete plant which, along with 5 cement storage silos, made it possible to produce and pour over 16,000 cubic yards of concrete paving in 45 days. In 2018, SIC was part of the construction team who installed the new rail loadout facility. SIC also installed the new plant fire loop for Lasalle Bioenergy which included 2 miles of new fire line and approx. 40 new fire hydrants with PIVs.

Southern Industrial Contractors' Johnson Ross CMI Ranger 750 cubic yard per hour twin drum central mix concrete plant has been staged at Drax Lasalle BioEnergy. (SIC owns four portable central mix concrete plants.) This concrete plant at Drax Lasalle has produced
over 40,000 cubic yards of concrete for the Drax Lasalle Bioenergy
project as well as the neighboring Lasalle Lumber project for Hunt and Tolko.
