Two important conservation funds are under threat in the North Carolina legislature and it is critical that we speak out now!
North Carolina's Clean Water Management Trust Fund and the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund have provided hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to protect some of the state's most iconic parks and Important Bird Areas. But now, these trust funds are being held hostage in a dispute between the legislature and Governor Cooper over the makeup of six boards and commissions that were recently found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
Earlier today, you may have received an email on this topic from Audubon North Carolina's Executive Director, Andrew Hutson. A big thank you to those of you who have already responded by emailing your representative.... but if you haven't, it's not too late! Audubon North Carolina has made it easy to click and send a pre-written letter. Just click here, fill in your name/address, and hit the "send email" button. It's just that simple!
Please act now on behalf of North Carolina's birds and wildlife by voicing your support for these important conservation funds!
Sincerely,
Nancy Casey, Jamie Harrelson, Mark McNeill, and Steve Yurkovich
We at EMAS apologize for the the cross-posting but want to make sure we spread the word.
