ANNOUNCEMENTS
Advent Adult Education continues this evening from 7-8 pm in the Education Wing.  Come and join the Rev. Kathryn McMahon and seminarian, Shawn Evelyn as they lead an adult formation Advent series on the popular Advent hymn, " O, Come O, Come Emmanuel" as we prepare for the Christmas season.

2018 Simulcast Christmas Service - This Saturday, December 15, at 9:30 am at the Cathedral if you can or online at  cathedral.org.  Fr. David will read one of the lessons.  The service moves back and forth through modern technology between the Cathedral and Christmas Lutheran Church in THE Bethlehem.  Music, readings, and messages bring a spirit of joy and hope to all who participate around the world and especially to the much diminished community of Christians who still live in the Holy Land.  Please contact Greg and Lynn Wood if you have
questions.

A Thank You to Beth Baker  - Join us this Sunday after the 10:30 service for a special coffee hour in honor of Beth Baker.  Beth has devoted years of energy and dedication to her work as Coordinator between Shepherd's Table and Good Shepherd.  Let's join to celebrate Beth's living out her faith as she passes along her Shepherd's Table mantle to Debbie Beebe.  Also, the GS Shepherd's Table volunteers would like in honor of Beth to replace the worn out aprons used at Shepherd's Table. If you would like to contribute see Debbie Beebe.

Christmas Flowers  - If you would like to contribute toward Christmas flowers in memory or celebration of a loved one please fill out a Christmas Flower envelope found on the ushers' desk. Cost for flower dedication is $50.00. Place the envelope in the collection plate or lock box no later than this Sunday, December 16.

Chocolate Makes a Great Gift!  - Looking for ideas for neighbors, co-workers, friend, family members?  A variety of Equal Exchange chocolate bars tied together with a ribbon makes a lovely and desirable gift.  Sales this Sunday after the 10:30 service.  Only $3.00 a bar.  Many
varieties available.

Christmas Pageant - All children including visitors are invited to sign up for and participate in Good Shepherd's Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve at the 5:30 pm service. The sign-up sheet is in the Narthex for speaking parts and non-speaking parts. Please sign up. There will be a practice at Sunday School on Dec. 23 for participants and you will need to arrive at 4pm on Christmas Eve ahead of the 5:30pm pageant to practice, have pizza and get into costume. Contact Patty Mitchell if you have questions.

A Message from Father David
We are preparing for the nomination of new members to the vestry. If you are approached to serve, please give serious consideration to saying "Yes!" Serving on the vestry is an important ministry and an opportunity to work with truly gifted and fun people. We begin each meeting with a reflection on the following Sunday's gospel and we end on time so come join us! As part of this year's nominating process we are also filling the Junior/People's Warden position. If you have any questions or would like to discuss serving as the Junior Warden, please contact me or Patty Mitchell.   David+

Crossway Community Christmas Outreach - Gifts for residents of Crossway Community filled the space under the tree in the narthex last Sunday.  Phill Scott and helpers moved them to his car for transport to Crossway Community, leaving abundant space to be filled this Sunday with additional gifts.  You, hopefully, saw Nina Scott's email on Monday with a few specific requests whose tags had not been taken.  If you can help with one of these items which she listed in her email announcement, please let Nina know.  Social Ministries is grateful to Phill and Nina for their commitment to this annual outreach to our neighbor in Kensington.

Shepherd's Table - Debbie Beebe, our new Shepherd's Table Coordinator, was absolutely glowing last Sunday when she spoke about delivering your "warm" accessories.  If you are interested in additional ways to serve at Shepherd's Table, she would love to talk with you.  Her enthusiasm is contagious!

Saint Luke Food Pantry - Food Security is a gift.  While there is no "special" holiday distribution this year at Saint Luke, there is the need of the families and individuals who access this resource to know that the cupboard will hold sufficient and nutritious staples.  Children will be at home for the school break, which means that access to free and reduced breakfast and lunch will not be available for 11 days.  Let's keep our neighbors in mind as we grocery shop for ourselves.  Suggestions include canned chicken, tuna, hearty soups, chili, stew, pasta meals, pasta sauce, tomatoes, beans (black, kidney, garbanzo), vegetables, and fruit; boxes of pasta and nutritious cereal; bags of rice and pasta; jars of peanut butter; tubes of jelly; and condiments.  No dressing mixes or pumpkin, please.  Latino foods are welcomed.

It's never too late to pledge!   Pledge cards can be found on the desk in the Narthex and may be placed in the offering plate or in the lockbox on the Narthex desk.
