At the beginning of each school year, our 1st and 12th graders are paired up as special friends. The 12th graders welcome the 1st graders with a white rose in the fall and the 1st graders see the 12th graders off with a red rose at the end of the school year. Throughout the year, the pairs connect in various ways.
Like so many things, the Rose Ceremony looked different this year, but the spirit of connection and the celebration of the cycle of new beginnings and endings (that are also new beginnings) lives on. Thank you to the Faculty and Staff that found creative ways to carry on this meaningful tradition.

In March, we likely thought and hoped that this would be a very temporary health crisis that would soon pass. Now that we are seven months in, we have a lot more information despite the continued uncertainties. We know that finding new ways of living and working are necessary to be safe and thrive while we wait for this to end. How do we continue to support ourselves and our children in a way that will sustain us?
Continuing our series on mental and emotional well being, here are some articles and county resources that we hope are a help for you and your family.

Dr. Daniel Einstein, MD, an anthroposophic doctor, will virtually join with our community to speak about resilience and health through the lens of anthroposophic medicine. Dr. Einstein brings a comprehensive, integrated approach to medicine which involves observation of and insight into the whole human being. We are excited for Dr. Einstein to bring his knowledge and expertise to us which he has developed over the years with Waldorf schools and Waldorf families.

We received a couple of fun ideas, but we are still collecting your go-to songs, rhymes, or mantras that help you and/or your children count yourself through frequent handwashing...

Class of 2019 Grads Start a Sustainable Clothing Company
|
|
Hi everyone! It's Daniel, Linus, Sydney, and Gretchen from the Class of 2019. We just launched our new sustainable clothing company called Good Looks. We started this company with the goal of changing the way people think about the clothing industry as a whole. Many of us care deeply about the long term health of our planet but don't realize that 10% of our global pollution comes from the clothing industry alone or that over 85% of all textiles produced each year are sent to landfills. You can learn more on our website, or just google "fast fashion". Our goal is to provide good looking, environmentally sourced, outdoor clothing from carefully built recycled and organic materials, so we can prove that buying sustainable is just as easy as buying cheap.
Sydney, Daniel, Linus, and Gretchen are pictured here on their senior class trip to Taos, NM.

CaringBridge Site for Stacey Kornegay and Family
Many of us know and love Stacey Kornegay (Alumni Parent & Former Admin Staff). Heartbreakingly, we've learned that Stacey is facing serious health issues at this time. This site at CaringBridge has information on a Meal Train to help with food, a GoFundMe site to help the family with medical costs, and a place to post messages of support.
