June 2021
It has been just over a month since we started our new role as stewards of the Northshire Bookstores, both in Manchester & Saratoga Springs. We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support of the community in this exciting new venture. Our dedicated Staff and the Morrow family have been wonderful through this process and we thank everyone for their guidance and support.

Many of our loyal customers have asked us if anything is changing at the Northshire Bookstores due to the new ownership. The short answer is “No.” The bookstores will absolutely remain the comfortable, steadfast and familiar landmarks that they have been for decades. You can rely on us to provide the same thoughtful and knowledgeable services and selections you have come to depend on for these many years.

Importantly, like much of the country, the Northshire Bookstore is slowly but surely coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic. Newly relaxed State and Federal guidelines, largely based on vaccination-related progress, have allowed us to start to plan more fully for the future. Challenges remain but we whole-heartedly look forward to full slates of new books, offerings and events in coming months. We will keep you closely informed of exciting new releases and programs.

In the short-term our hours are expanding with Manchester open daily from 10:00 to 7:00 and with Saratoga Springs staying open until 9:00 on weekends.

Thank you all again for your incredible support.

See you at the Northshire Bookstores!

June Featured Release

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient comes a spellbinding tale of psychological suspense, weaving together Greek mythology, murder, and obsession, that further cements “Michaelides as a major player in the field.”

"The Maidens is a riveting novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from page one. It follows Mariana Andros, a group therapist who finds herself back at Cambridge University after her niece's friend is murdered. Mariana is soon caught up in the mystery, absolutely convinced that a popular professor, Edward Fosca, is the killer. In true Michaelides fashion, the story will keep you guessing right until the very end. Compulsive, engaging, and fast-paced, The Maidens has earned a spot on my favorite books of all time list." — Reviewed by Cassidy Washburn

"While most contemporary mysteries do provide plenty of shocks and twists, The Maidens is on a whole other cosmic level; jaw-droppers, gasps, and goosebumps. I was delightfully terrified for Mariana, a group therapist grieving the sudden loss of her husband, who heads to Cambridge when her niece’s roommate is brutally murdered. From the get-go, Mariana is firm in her belief that the university’s Greek mythology professor, Edward Fosca, is behind the crime, but as she becomes more and more obsessed with pinning him, Mariana’s world--and mind--unravels horribly. Ominous story-telling, each new chapter makes you fearfully wait for the other shoe to drop. And when it does, you’ll be absolutely floored." — Reviewed by Kirstin Swartz

"You won't be able to turn the pages quick enough! This mystery has it all, smart, twisty, atmospheric. Set in the old world academic setting of Cambridge University, amidst an elite society based on the Greek Tragedies, will fiction get muddled with truth? Michaelides has written yet another truly stunning novel. I will be highly recommending to all." — Reviewed by Becky Doherty

Pre-order Highlight

From Daniel Silva, the internationally acclaimed #1 New York Times bestselling author, comes a timely and explosive new thriller featuring art restorer and legendary spy Gabriel Allon.

Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

Before him was the receiver from his landline telephone, a half-drunk glass of red wine, and a stack of documents.…

Elegant and sophisticated, provocative and daring, The Cellist explores one of the preeminent threats facing the West today—the corrupting influence of dirty money wielded by a revanchist and reckless Russia. It is at once a novel of hope and a stark warning about the fragile state of democracy. And it proves once again why Daniel Silva is regarded as his generation’s finest writer of suspense and international intrigue.
