CURRENT COMMUNITY MITIGATION LEVEL
SUBSTANTIAL TO SHELTER IN PLACE

The health, safety and welfare of our property owners, residents, employees, visitors and businesses are priority one for Hot Springs Village. We encourage social distancing or sheltering in place to prevent COVID19 from spreading in our community.

We also encourage supporting local businesses as can safely be achieved.  Several are offering delivery services, online services, gift certificates and other creative methods to serve their customers and we applaud their efforts.

We encourage you to visit our webpage  https://explorethevillage.com/members/hsv-covid-19/ that is being used to provide the latest updates, including closings and postponements.

From the Board
The Hot Springs Village Property Owners Association Board of Directors will be holding three separate meetings Wednesday, April 15.

The meetings will not be open to in-person viewing by the public to reduce possible exposure and spread of COVID-19. Two of the three meetings, the Annual Board Meeting and the Special Board Meeting, will be live-streamed on the POA's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/HSVPOA. The third meeting is an executive session, which is open only to Association Board members and officers to complete new board member orientation.

State of Arkansas
Gov. Asa Hutchinson said that COVID-19 has hit two prisons in Arkansas.

The first is the prison in Forrest City. That prison has had a total of 55 positive tests. Approximately 35 of those are prisoners. One of the positives is an independent contractor. The rest are employees. You can read more about the virus at the prison in Forrest City here.

The other prison affected Cummins Unit. There it has affected 43 of 46 prisoners in one barrack of the prison. This is a maximum-security unit and steps are being taken to isolate the prisoners of those barracks from other barracks.

Hutchinson said that there are now 1,410 positive cases of COVID-19 in Arkansas. Of that number, 74 are hospitalized and 30 cases have resulted in death.

Hutchinson also said that Arkansas is expected to peak in cases on April 29, according to the projections. He said that he is appointing a COVID-19 post-peak medical advisory board, which would be responsible for the process of rolling back precautions such as social distancing and the time frame in which that should be done.

You can watch the governor's daily update on his YouTube page here.

A statewide map is available that shows national, state and county numbers in regards to COVID-19. As of April 13 at 3 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 23,070.

Good Neighbors

Facial masks to protect oneself from the COVID-19 virus are a premium right now. Luckily, there's a literal angel here in Hot Springs Village who is lending her skills and those of volunteers in providing masks to healthcare workers, police, firefighters and a long list of others. Her current project is working on masks for Brookshire's grocery store.

Since mid-March, Colleen Angel of Hot Springs Village and her volunteers have supplied more than 1,000 masks to CHI Home Health, the HSV Fire Department, Mount Carmel Community, HSV Police, HSV Sanitation and the Post Office just to name a few. Even at the time of this writing, she and her volunteers are making hundreds more.

Angel is already known for her charitable work through the construction of bereavement gowns for preemies. To learn more about that project visit  http://tinyangelgowns.com. To date, Tiny Angel Gowns has donated more than 57,000 gowns.

"A lot of people are donating fabric, but we have to buy the interfacing, elastic and nose pieces," Angel said. Non-woven interfacing is in big demand with several suppliers online being sold out.

Angel said that she and her husband are making about 50 masks a day.
"It depends on the amount of supplies," she said.

To learn more about how you can help, particularly when it comes to non-woven interfacing for the masks, contact Angel at  [email protected].
Thanks to Angel and all the work she does. An additional thanks to all the people who help her make the masks from Community of Joy and Sacred Heart Church, who help her with Tiny Angel Gowns as well.
