ASB Hosts Poor Man's Banquet
|
|
The ASB Black & White Poor Man's Banquet was held on Sunday, December 8, at Dave & Buster's. The HS students enjoyed an evening of food and games. Aker Pan's favorite part of the evening...beating Principal Davis at a game! Great job, ASB!

What do you do if you are cold and need more warmth? Most would just turn up the thermostat or throw on another layer of clothes, but not Coyote. He decides the solution to his problem is to steal summer! The musical,
Coyote Steals the Summer,
written & composed by Ron Fink and John Heath, was performed by students in grades TK-2 before a group of supporting family and friends on November 22. Thank you for attending and cheering on EAA's youngest actors. The group was also treated to a mini-piano recital by the students studying with Mrs. Doris DeChenne. All the the music and fun was a great way to begin Thanksgiving break.

Annual ECCDC Christmas Party
|
|
The annual Escondido Community Child Development Center (ECCDC) Christmas party was held on Tuesday, December 10. The high school students joined the ECCDC children on their campus and took on the role of "Big Buddy." After sharing gifts with the children, EAA students took the children around to activity centers and played together. ECCDC is a non-profit preschool for children ages 4 months to kindergarten and serves low-income households--the majority of which live in the Escondido area. The high school students look forward to this event each year.
Special thanks to Ruby Martinez for the pictures!

Christmas Traditions. There are few events more closely associated with Christmas than a performance of
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet,
The Nutcracker.
Composed in 1892, this two-act ballet is performed annually around the world by professional ballet companies and aspiring community dance companies. EAA students,
Marley
(7th grade) &
Miya
(5th grade)
Bumroongchart
have studied ballet for six and one-half years and recently performed
The Nutcrack
er with the New West Ballet at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. The EAA family turned out to support and cheer for these young ladies. It was a terrific beginning to the Christmas season.

Hawks Family,
There is nothing quite like the holiday season. Along with the excitement and frantic pace, comes the opportunity to celebrate the things we are thankful for, and recognize the ultimate gift that was given to us.
Isaiah 9:6 reads, "For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called
Wonderful Counselor
,
Mighty God
,
Everlasting Father
,
Prince of Peace
."
We are thankful and blessed this holiday season. Among these amazing blessings are our students, families, faculty and staff members, Pastors, school board members, and community supporters. We celebrate that our Mighty God has blessed us to work together as one family.
May the holidays remind each of you of the gift of a Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting Father, Mighty God and Prince of Peace that was given to you. God's richest blessings on each and every one of you as you enter the new year.
Blessings,
Bill Davis
Principal

EAA Alumni Giving Back as Head Coaches
|
|
EAA always love seeing alumni back on campus. Perhaps one of the most exciting things is seeing alumni on campus giving back to a program that they benefited from during their years at EAA.
EAA currently has three alumni who have taken on varsity head coaching roles at EAA. Emmanuel Ayala (02'), Tae Ho Kim (11'), and Lani Shetler (14').
Emmanuel Ayala graduated in EAA's Class of 2002. He completed his AS Degree in Medical Radiography in 2010, and a BS in Healthcare Administration in 2016. "Emman" and his wife Maria are proud parents of Jonathan(5) and Benjamin(3). Coach Ayala, as the kids call him, is currently the head coach of the Boys Varsity Flagball team.
Tae Ho Kim is a graduate of the Class of 2011. He recently completed an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2018 at Southern Adventist University. Tae Ho works as a Psychiatric Nurse (RN) for the County of San Diego. Tae Ho is in his his first year as the head coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball team at EAA.
Lani Shetler, Class of 2014, earned her BA degree in History Political Science from La Sierra University in 2019. She is currently working on her Masters in Elementary Education from GCU with plans to graduate in 2021. Lani works as a nanny for several families to help gain experience working with children. Lani is the daughter of Darena Shetler (EAA's 8th Grade teacher) and Jon Shetler. Her brother Jon E. graduate from EAA in 2017, and her younger sister Kiana will graduate in the class of 2020. Lani has been Co-coaching both the Girls and Boys Varsity Volleyball teams for the past two seasons.
EAA is so proud and grateful to these dedicated alumni. There is no bigger reward than seeing former students give back to their school.
Once a Hawk, always a Hawk!
