The Practice of lighting Advent candles is designed to help us center our lives on Christ's coming during the weeks that lead up to the celebration of his birth. One candle is lit each Sunday during Advent until all the candles are lit. As you light this Sunday's candle read the prayers and scripture reading below.

All:    We light the candle of hope and give thanks ____________.

All:    Peace that brings an end to fighting and hurt
One:   So, today we light the candle of peace (light the second candle)
All:    For we need peace in our world and in our lives
