General News
Principal's Perspective
Dear Delone Catholic Families,

Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever.  He is Risen.  Alleluia!

Despite the troubling circumstances in which we find ourselves, I trust that you shared time with the Lord over the Easter break and participated in one of the many streamed liturgical experiences that were made available.  In my family, we chose to "share" Easter with Fr. Michael Schmitz from Ascension Presents, providing us with much food for thought and prayer.

As we persevere on this unique journey, Delone Catholic will continue to follow the guidelines shared by Governor Wolf's Office, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Diocese of Harrisburg.  Presently, schools in the State of Pennsylvania will be closed for the remainder of the school year.  Earlier this week, however, we began our synchronous online morning sessions so that students and teachers would have specific times to connect with each other.

In order to help navigate this new approach, our Webmaster and Social Studies Department Chair, Mrs. Julia Fuhrman, has organized a variety of resources that should be helpful to both students and parents alike.  These tools can be accessed by clicking on the link found in the School Resources section of PlusPortals.  This link was also emailed to each student.

Please continue to communicate with your child's teachers and/or guidance counselor for any specific concerns.  We thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this transition to our online schedule that we hope will provide greater support for our students.

Furthermore, please continue to pray for all families and individuals affected by the coronavirus pandemic in our own community, throughout our nation and the world, for the message of Christ's resurrection and our own redemption is truly one of hope and meant for all to hear.

Sincerely,

Richard La Rocca
Principal

We Want to Help Our Squire Businesses Stay #SquireStrong
Delone Catholic is reaching out to encourage support of small businesses owned by our Delone Catholic community members! We invite alumni, parents and parents of alumni to complete THIS FORM if you own an essential small business in need of community support. These may include restaurants offering take-out, auto services, food and beverage manufacturing, medical supplies, social services, etc.

We would also like to promote your business on our social media outlets, so please email a picture (logo, owner selfie, employees, etc.) to Mrs. Jennifer Hart at [email protected]. Any submitted pictures can and may be used in the yearbook, in social media posts and in other public relations efforts.

Highlight A Squire Hero
We are continuing our Highlight a Squire Hero campaign. We will highlight the heroes in our Squire family that are working to battle the coranvirus as they care for the sick, protect the healthy, keep us safe and supply us with supplies, food and other essential services.

Send pictures or selfies of students, alumni, family members and friends that are actively involved in this all-out battle with the coronavirus, so that our Delone Catholic community may pray for them. Send pictures to Mrs. Jennifer Hart at [email protected]. Note that pictures may be posted on Delone Catholic Social Media and/or printed in the school yearbook.

Seeking Businesses for Student Internship Opportunities
Delone Catholic High School is excited to provide innovative opportunities to engage our students in the context of real-life learning through academic internships. Through this program, students in their senior year would have the ability to work in a professional setting for one to two hours daily. Placement would be based on a student's career interests and pursued under the supervision of our internship coordinator in conjunction with an on-site mentor. In addition to exploring experiences on the job site, students will participate in monthly in-school seminars exploring career and workplace issues. All positions will be on an unpaid basis.

We are currently seeking businesses/companies that would have an interest working with our students in this program. Our plan is to begin this program the fall of 2020. If your business/company has an interest in working with us on this new adventure or if you have any questions about our program, please complete this REQUEST FORM and send it to Lori Heberling at Delone Catholic High School either via fax at 717-637-0442 or contact Mrs. Heberling via email at [email protected] .

Thank you for your consideration and interest in our internship program.

Sincerely,

Richard La Rocca
Principal

SportsLeader Virtue of the Week
One pillar of the SportsLeader program is a weekly virtue that we incorporate into our athletic practices and throughout our school community. Every week, we will share them here to encourage the students to take the virtue into their homes as well!

Our virtue this week is CONSISTENCYThe mature strength to rise to the occasion when your best is needed.  The enemies of consistency are laziness and discouragement. We don't rise to the occasion because we weigh ourselves down by giving in to weakness whether it be physical or mental. Let's encourage one another to always reject discouragement.
