“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke 19:10

In the movie Forrest Gump, Lt. Dan, sat in his living room with his friend Forrest Gump. The salty Lieutenant was staring at an old TV broadcasting a church service. He looked at Forrest and cynically says,

“Have you found Jesus yet, Gump?”

Shocked by the question, Forrest responded, “I didn’t know I was supposed to be looking for him, sir.”

We as humans don’t know what or who we should be looking for. Instead of scolding us, God came to us in Jesus who said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

God finds us in our pride-soaked clothes aimlessly wandering the streets of despair. God doesn’t reject us, he chooses us, claims us as his own, and says, “you are mine.” We are his prized possession that was lost but is now found.  God finds us in our brokenness, repairs us, and restores us. God finds us in our sinfulness and redeems us.

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine
Isaiah 43:1

We contribute nothing to our salvation. The only thing we contribute to our salvation is our sin. Professor Norman Nagel used to say, “Jesus gets all the good verbs.” The “doing” is all Jesus- he does the seeking and finding and saving. We respond with praise and thanksgiving confirming what Christ has done for us. Thanks be to God!

Sunday is special, we will hear from our confirmation class as they confirm their faith in Jesus and what he has done for them.

See you Sunday I can’t wait!

The Grace Fellowship Love Fund is dedicated to helping those in our congregation and the community in their moment of need. Over the past year, several families and individuals in our congregation and in the community lost jobs, housing, or both. We were able to assist them in their hour of need in small but much needed ways. The love fund is accessed at Pastor Austin and the Church Board’s discretion to allow for confidentiality to protect families and their privacy. These past 14 months more than ever, the Love Fund has been a blessing to hurting people. Praise God for that!

At this time, the love fund is in need of replenishment so that we as God’s hands and feet might continue to serve those who need it most. Please prayerfully consider donating to the Love Fund. Thank you!

To donate to the love fund, click on the button below or give in the Love Fund basket in the church lobby. If you are paying via the link, please type, "Love Fund" in the notes before submitting. Thank you for your love and support.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
