USF Receives $50,000 Gift from the Vinik Family Foundation to Support Students in Need
The University of South Florida announced a gift of $50,000 from Jeff and Penny Vinik ( left ), granted through the Vinik Family Foundation, to the  USF United Support Fund .

This initiative was recently created by President Currall to help provide financial relief to students who are facing unexpected challenges due to the coronavirus outbreak. The fund has already raised over   $280,000.  

Many students are facing new financial realities and have urgent needs such as food, toiletries, rent money and other basic essentials that are beyond their reach. Students who want to request financial assistance from the new fund should go  here .
U.S. Senator Rick Scott donates salary to USF Health Pandemic Research and Response Fund
USF Health received a generous boost to its Pandemic Research & Response Fund with a donation from U.S. Senator Rick Scott ( above ), who donated the second quarter of his Senate salary to the fund, which aims to help USF Health fight the coronavirus and prevent, treat and train for a pandemic response.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Our nation is facing an unprecedented crisis. We, as Americans, have to come together to innovatively adapt and solve problems, and that’s exactly what USF Health is doing. Their work to quickly develop Coronavirus testing supplies with 3-D printing technology will help us ramp up testing efforts nationwide and curb the spread of the coronavirus NOW...”

“Senator Scott’s generosity is especially welcome at this critical time,” said Dr. Charles Lockwood, USF Health Senior Vice President and Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine. “His gift will have an immediate impact on our fight against COVID-19 as we work to generate more COVID-19 testing kits, conduct research on alternative treatments, and care for patients in our region.”
USF Health Morsani College of Medicine Breaks Top 50 Among All Public and Private Medical Schools in National Rankings
Graduate programs at USF Health had significant gains in this year’s rankings from U.S. News & World Report, most notably the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine moved into the top 50 of all public and private medical schools for the first time.

In the U.S. News 2021 Best Graduate Schools list released March 17, the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, Taneja College of Pharmacy, and the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences all moved up in rank. These improvements all highlight advances USF Health has experienced on the national stage, especially over the past five years.
