Dear Oxbridge Community,

I am sure you are aware of the developing news regarding the Coronavirus and the decision by the World Health Organization yesterday to declare the Coronavirus a global public health emergency. We are closely monitoring the news about the outbreak and encourage you to familiarize yourself with the information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding the Coronavirus.

Oxbridge has been taking an abundance of precautionary measures for several weeks to ensure the health of our community.
  • Our annual International Winter Camp that welcomes students from China, scheduled for this week, was canceled.
  • Our annual AI Scholars trip to China, scheduled for later this spring, is canceled.
  • We are carefully evaluating all future travel by our students, faculty, and staff.
  • We are in close communication with our international student partners to understand how they are monitoring the travel of their Chinese students and their families.
  • We have instructed our cleaning crew to increase our already high standards for daily cleaning and sanitizing the campus. All cleaning products we use kill germs such as viruses.
  • Dr. Kelly Prisco is continuing her protocol of notifying parents and sending a student home if they have a fever.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, as well as the severity of this flu season, we are now requiring a signed physician's note for any student absent due to any illness involving a communicable disease, and absences of three or more days.

As a reminder, below are the CDC recommended healthy habits to help prevent the flu. Click HERE for more details on the CDC website.
  • Get vaccinated
  • Avoid close contact
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
  • Clean your hands
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Practice other good health habits: get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food
We will continue to monitor the impact of the Coronavirus and update the Oxbridge community as needed.

Best regards,
Ralph E. Maurer, Ph.D.
