Kay Biga

as she shares wisdom on:

"How to Be a Better Boss
and Avoid Legal Trouble"

No matter what side of the workplace relationship you are on, this presentation is for you!

Participants will learn what basic laws apply to the employer-employee relationship. Employers will learn the costs of having an unhealthy workplace. Employees will learn techniques to deal with a difficult boss. Presentation is based on real-life examples of stressed out employers and employees.


About Our Speaker:

Attorney Kay Biga is pleased to now be working full-time at the Spott Law Office and is accepting new clients. She is a lifelong Duluthian and is very involved in the Duluth community. Kay is a Rule 114 Qualified Mediator and has worked with families and businesses to amicably resolve disputes.

Kay recently retired as an Associate Professor of Management and Business Law at the University of Wisconsin – Superior.  For twenty years she has taught courses in a variety of subjects, including: business law, business ethics, real property, contracts, strategic management, and international business..

Since 1984, Kay has been the Chief Operating Officer of Biga Affiliates. Kay is known for her expertise in matters related to networking, strategic planning, and hiring and firing practices. Kay also serves as the president of the Pachel Foundation and is a co-founder of Duluth Superior Eco Rotary Club.

Kay and her co-authors Patrick and Emily Spott have recently published three papers: "How to Win Friends and Influence Students: Applying Networking Principles to the Teacher-Student Relationship" in the Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice, "Keeping People Involved: Creating a New Model for Service Organizations," and "Smart Hiring in the Hospitality Industry: Business and Legal Perspectives" in the Journal of Management.

Please note: In order to ensure there is enough accommodations for all attendees, Holiday Inn requires we guarantee our attendance numbers ahead of time. Therefore, event fees are non-refundable, and cannot be transferred to another event/date. However, you may transfer your registration to another person to attend in your place.

PRICE UPDATE: The early registration cost will increase one dollar to $16/meeting on January 1, 2020. Walk-ins will remain $20/meeting.

MEETINGS: Meetings are held on the second Friday of each month September through May (unless otherwise specified), with no meetings during the months of June, July, and August. The cost is $16 per meeting for advance registration through our online registration system.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership is $20 per year, available as you register for meetings online during the our Membership Drive (months of November, December, or January) or at any time during our meetings or on our website. Members of EWN who sign up during our Membership Drive will be added to our online member directory, and featured on our group facebook page. We want to emphasize that membership is important to keep us sustainable and help us grow as an organization. You do not need to be a member to attend meetings.
