Vol. 3, #3

Hi All,
Region 3's Organizing Committee has pledged to put on  a FREE professional development opportunity for our members on Saturday, January 26, 2019,  at the WR3 office. The conference starts at 9:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend for a Winter ReCharge!

What's on the menu? We already have presenters for "Managing Student Behaviors," geared specifically for our ESP members, and sessions about "Mindfulness" for us, "Google Classroom," "Classroom Management," "Math is Fun: Games for Students," and  a "Degrees Not Debt" workshop. We've also got some union-centered presentations on building rep training and "Beating Back the Bully Principal."

We're still in the planning stages right now. We are hoping to partner with our neighbors at the Green Bay Education Association. And we're looking for ideas from YOU - what topics would you like to learn about and, what topics would YOU like to share with others as a presenter?

Let us know what topics you want by replying: [email protected].
Got an idea for a session? Presenter proposal form here.

Schedule of sessions and registration coming SOON - but see below for financial planning sessions available on the same date (that registration is open NOW)!

Tip of the Month

The Ten-Minute Meeting
All too often we hear, "there's no reason to hold a meeting if there's nothing to report/decide/vote on." Or, we hear, "I'm not sure we have a union because there are never any meetings." But mostly, we hear, "I don't have TIME to go to ANOTHER meeting."

You have an opportunity to keep members in the loop AND respect their time by holding 10-minute meetings! It's also a great time to get feedback from people in the building.

If you feel like you're in a rut, why not try the 10-minute meeting?

NEA Member Benefits

Your membership in your Local union includes memberships to the Region (WEAC Region 3), the state (Wisconsin Education Association Council), and the national (National Education Association) organizations and all provide specific benefits. Did you know your NEA membership includes:
  • Complimentary life insurance; and
  • Employment Liability?
Furthermore, the free $1,000 term life insurance offered through NEA can be increased at a very competitive rate and remains in place as long as you are an active or retired member.

A simple handout explains all the details of these important benefits and could easily be shared in a 10-minute meeting!

A link to the NEA Member Benefits life insurance benefit gives details about the extra coverage you can buy:

Note: A 10-minute meeting about NEA Benefits should be open to everyone - members and potential members alike.
