Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of the year, the strong giving spirit continues at Riverside. We heard from GHS student Hannah about her visit to the school in Kenya with over 200 school supply items donated by our school. The school staff was so appreciative and they look forward to putting the supplies to use when the kids return from break. We've attached a few pictures at the very bottom of the peek of the school staff, the supplies and the slum that the school serves. We've made a positive difference for this school!
The two holiday toy drives we are supporting organized by local GHS students are in full swing and run through Monday, December 17th (details below). Also, please watch for a communication next week from our Community Service committee about providing meals in January for Kids in Crisis.
And finally, our Student Council is mobilizing into action to kick off their "Pennies for Patients" with the goal of finding a cure for Leukemia. They are aiming to raise $3,000 over 4 weeks starting on Monday, December 10th - when the collection boxes will be sent home. More details are below in the school news section including information about the theme days coming up next week.
Please note the following date reminders (including the Pennies for Patients Theme Days):
- Mon, Dec 10 - Holiday Concert (All Chorus, 5th Grade Orchestra, & Advanced 5th Grade Band)
- Tues, Dec 11 - Early Release & Teacher Conferences
- Wed, Dec 12
- Thurs, Dec 13 - Evening Conferences
- Fri, Dec 14 - Holiday Sing
- Mon, Dec 17 - Deadline for the Toy Drive collections!

GREEN TIP - IDLING IS FUELISH
Turning Off Your Engine Helps Save Fuel, Lives and the Environment!
As the temperatures are dropping and it's getting cold outside, please be mindful not to leave your car running while you wait in the pickup line. Instead, put on a warm winter sweater, jacket and warm socks. Let's keep our children and the environment healthy!
* Breathing in exhaust can aggravate asthma, allergies, and cardiovascular disease.
