Four Siblings Wanted to Be
Home for the Holidays
Jace, Zaria, Frank and Inez were in three different foster homes, feeling frightened and alone. Their mother was struggling to stay sober and attend counseling without transportation. What they all
wanted most was to be home together for the holidays. With CASA's support, the children's mother found a way forward. But would it be enough for reunification?

Consider Including Dallas CASA in Your
Year-End Giving Plans
Dallas CASA invites you to join us in the fight against child abuse and neglect by including Dallas CASA in your year-end giving plans.
Your support means we can recruit, train and supervise more community volunteers to serve more children. In 2019, about 1,500 Dallas CASA volunteers will serve more than 3,500 abused and neglected children. But more children are being removed from their homes every day, and we don't want a single child to have to navigate a complex child welfare system alone. To support Dallas CASA, visit here.

Dallas CASA Honors 20-Year Volunteer Pam Fletcher
At the 2019 Champion of Children Award dinner, Dallas CASA honored volunteer Pam Fletcher who recently celebrated her 20th anniversary as a court-appointed volunteer advocate for abused and neglected children. In 20 years,
Pam has worked 35 cases involving 73 children.
"Pam can't be rattled. She can walk in, assess a situation, roll up her sleeves and immediately get to work on behalf of the children she serves.
Her calm demeanor, her instincts, the rapport she's able to build with families and children all while putting the best interests of the children she serves are what make Pam special," her volunteer supervisor Ruth Holland said. "What makes her truly remarkable is that she's been doing this 20 years."
Thank you, Pam, for 20 years of dedicated service to children in need!

Thank You Angel Tree Donors
Dallas CASA's building is overflowing with the signs of the Dallas community's incredible generosity and commitment to children. Since September Dallas CASA volunteers have been collecting holiday wish lists from the children they serve. Local corporations, organizations and individuals have taken these wish lists and fulfilled them, making holiday dreams come true for children living in foster care. A special thank you to members of Dallas CASA Children's Council who assisted with checking in gifts and ensuring the gifts got to the right volunteers and children.

National Adoption Day Brings Children Permanency
One-year-old Jackson Monroe marched into a Dallas courtroom on National Adoption Day wearing his "Get out of my way, it's adoption day" shirt.
Five minutes and a high five with the judge later, Jackson had a forever family.
Along with 50 other Dallas children living in protective care, Jackson was adopted on the 20th annual National Adoption Day Nov. 23 at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center. Judge Ken Molberg, who consummated Jackson's adoption, and Judge Mary Brown donated their time to expedite adoptions for foster children before the holidays. The event was hosted by Dallas CASA in partnership with Child Protective Services.
A year ago, life for Jackson was different. Born exposed to illegal drugs, Jackson was placed in foster care before relatives stepped forward.
When the Larry and Johni Monroe got the first call that Jackson was in foster care, they already had three young boys at home. Kaesyn, Kamdyn and Kashtyn were 4, 3 and 1. "I thought one more boy? Sure, let's do this," Johni Monroe said. The Monroes worked with Child Protective Services to have Jackson placed in their home. Dallas CASA volunteer Amanda Stewart took Jackson's case on as her first case shortly after swearing-in. She visited him monthly and got to know his future parents and three brothers.
"I ended up knowing them all so well," Amanda said. "The four boys sort of come as a set. Jackson's fortunate to get to grow up with these brothers."
All four boys and their parents dressed in red and black shirts, jeans and boots, and the boys kept their parents busy, checking out the activity in the courthouse halls. "We're glad this day is finally here," Johni Monroe said.
