 Additional Information...
  • Schedule for April 21, April 22, May 5, & May 6: The building will hold “full testing days” on the English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics testing days. Students will report to school on these days during their testing time only - students are permitted to come to school late/leave school early depending on their Ohio State Testing schedule. Online learning assignments will be posted to Google Classroom for subjects that are not tested that day. Lunch from the school cafeteria will be available on these days. There will be no Model B At-Home virtual learning hour from 1:25 - 2:25 p.m. due to testing occurring during this time.
  • 7th Grade Students: Testing sessions begin at 7:30 a.m. on April 21, April 22, May 5, & May 6. Students will need to be in their testing location by 7:30 a.m.
  • 8th Grade Students: Testing sessions begin at 11:00 a.m on April 21, April 22, May 5, & May 6. Students will need to be in their testing location by 11:00 a.m.

  • Schedule for May 4 ONLY: The building will operate on a 2-Hour Delay Schedule & 1-Hour Virtual Learning Bell Schedule for 7th grade students. 8th Grade students (Model A & Model B) will report to school at 7:30 a.m. Eighth (8th) Grade Science testing (Model A & Model B) will take place from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Seventh (7th) grade students can report to school at 9:30 a.m. - it will not impact student attendance if a 7th grade student arrives to school at 9:30 a.m. Eighth (8th) Grade Model B At-Home Virtual Learning students can leave school at 9:30 a.m. after the completion of testing. Model A In-Person Learning students will attend all classes starting at 9:30 a.m. Model A In-Person Learning students will be dismissed from school at 1:20 p.m. Model B At-Home Virtual Learning students have their normal virtual hour from 1:25 - 2:25 p.m.

  • Transportation for ALL testing days: Buses will operate on a normal pickup/drop-off schedule for all testing days. Students can (1) ride the bus to/from school each day as normal; or (2) arrive to school late/leave school early by parent/guardian transportation per the information above. If students are at school and do not have an Ohio State Test, then they will be monitored in the commons/gymnasium areas.

  • Make-up Testing: If a Model A In-Person Learning student or Model B At-Home Virtual Learning student does not take the Ohio State Test during their scheduled time, then they will have the opportunity to take the test during a make-up testing session.

  • More Information on Ohio State Testing: If you would like to review tutorials and other resources with your child at home to reinforce the tools we will be going over with the students at school, please click here to visit ODE Ohio Testing Portal for Students & Families.

  • What Do Students Need to bring for Testing? All students will utilize a school-provided chromebook to take their Ohio State Tests. In addition, students are encouraged to bring in their own earbuds/headphones for testing in order to utilize the text-to-speech option on the Science and Mathematics Ohio State Tests. Also, earbuds/headphones can be used as a noise buffer against outside noises for any of the tests. Earbuds/headphones will be provided for any student that wishes to use one, but does not have access. Students may bring in their own mouse to use for testing instead of the touchpad on the school-provided chromebook. This is highly encouraged if students prefer using a mouse over the touchpad. Finally, students should bring a couple of #2 pencils.

  • Lunch: Lunch will be available for purchase at 10:00 a.m. for 8th grade students and 10:30 a.m. for 7th grade students.

  • What time should I drop off my student for their testing session? It does not matter what time you drop off your student, as there will be supervision of students in the commons/gymnasium during their non-testing times. Please make sure that your student is at school early enough to be in their testing location by their ‘test start time.’ Example: (1) Your student’s test starts at 11:00 a.m., then they should be dropped off at school by 10:55 a.m. at the latest; (2) Your student’s test starts at 11:00 a.m., but you are only able to drop them off at 9:45 a.m. In this situation, your student will report to the commons/gymnasium when entering the school at 9:45 a.m. and stay in this location until released for their classroom for testing.

  • Where does my student report for testing? All students will take their tests with their 4/5th or 5/6th period classmates. Please have your student report to their 4/5th or 5/6th period classroom/teacher unless your student has been directed to report to a different testing location.

  • What happens at the conclusion of my student’s testing session?: Upon the conclusion of testing, your student has three options that are the same as the “end” of any other typical school day:  (1) Go to the gymnasium/commons to wait for pick-up or bus transportation home at 2:20 p.m; (2) Go outside by the front entrance for pick-up by parent/guardian; (3) With parent permission, leave school property by walking on the sidewalks. Please note, if your student is selecting option #3, they will not be allowed to congregate in other places on school property (football field, softball fields, etc.). Once a student leaves school property, they will not be allowed to come back onto school property/come into the school building. Remember, students will have online assignments posted to Google Classroom on testing days.

  • When should I pick up my student?  Approximate pick-up times have been identified in the chart above. The actual pick-up time will be dependent on numerous factors including: (1) what time the testing session begins after instructions are provided; (2) students successfully logging into the online testing system; (3) potential technological glitches during testing. Students can use their cell phones upon the completion of the testing session to coordinate transportation. Students can sit in the commons/gymnasium while awaiting transportation.

  • If my student finishes testing earlier than their classmates, can they leave to go home as soon as they are done? No, all students will be dismissed from their testing session at the same time. Approximate pick-up times have been identified in the chart above.

School Fees Update, 2020-21
This school year is unlike any other. In particular, as it relates to school fees, we wanted to share a few details on the particulars of school fees given the structure of this current school year.

As all students in Springboro Schools are given the option of transitioning between our Model A (in-person) and Model B (at-home/virtual) by quarter, this proves difficult when assessing school fees mid-year. Given this, we will review the school fees for our Model B students at the conclusion of the school year. In the event a Model B student did not receive all items within the school fee structure, those particular fees (or fee) will be prorated by quarter, and a credit or refund will be applied. Again, this will be done so at the end of this school year for any student who was in Model B during a particular quarter.

School Fees
School fees for the Junior High are now able to be viewed and paid online through Pay Schools Central. To access Pay Schools Central, click on the ‘Parents’ tab on the main webpage for Springboro Schools - www.springboro.org

In addition, schools fees can be paid by check made payable to ‘Springboro Junior High School.’ Please contact the main office at 937-748-3953 with any questions.

As a reminder, eighth grade students attending the 2021 Washington, D.C. trip must have their fees paid in order to attend the trip.
COVID-19 School Information
COVID-19 Health Information
As a reminder, it is critical that if your student, or a family member in your household, has been tested for COVID-19 and you are still awaiting results, please remain home until the results of the test are known. Do not have your student report to school while you are awaiting results. Also, if your student or a family member in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home to self-quarantine.

Do not report to school if either of these scenarios apply to you or your family. Only, if we work together, as a district, as parents, and as community members can we continue to maintain a safe school environment for all of our students and staff.

Please review further information related to health procedures for attending school on our website - http://www.springboro.org/COVID-19Resources.aspx (Clinic Nurse Information Tab)

COVID-19 Test Kits
The State of Ohio has provided Home Test Kits for Ohio Schools. If your student is in need of testing please contact the Building Nurse at your student’s school.

The 15-minute BinaxNOW COVID 19 Ag Card Home Test has received FDA Emergency Use Authorization for at-home testing in collaboration with the telehealth session. Abbott has selected eMed, a digital health solution, as its telehealth partner. This service for COVID-19 testing prescribes and allows the test to be done rapidly at home with virtual instruction and consultation. A trained telehealth professional guides those being tested through the at-home self-test via video call using the BinaxNOW COVID 19 Ag Card Home Test and Abbott’s complementary NAVICA mobile app to enable the testing process and display BinaxNOW COVID-19 test results.

Springboro Community City Schools will be dispensing the test kits upon parental request. The parent will need to arrange to pick up the test kit from the student’s school clinic. In following the district’s COVID-19 protocols, a copy of the test results will be required for your student to return to school in accordance with the ODH guidelines.
For more information, please contact Bronwyn Patterson, District Nurse, at 937-748-6054 or bpatterson@springboro.org.
