GOHi attends Institute of International Education Conference in Khartoum, Sudan |

Tigist Endashaw, regional program manager and deputy country representative, participated in the historic U.S. higher education delegation to Sudan. The Institute of International Education (IIE)s Center for International Partnerships led the delegation to Sudan to explore opportunities to create new academic partnerships and strengthen existing ones. In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan and the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, IIE held this higher education partnership workshop in Khartoum from October 28 November 1. The delegation participated in partnership activities, which included a higher education partnership workshop, site visits to Sudanese universities and cultural activities.

Yimer presents at Leading in Global Health Together |
GOHis Eastern Africa Regional Director Dr. Getnet Yimer was invited by the organizing members of Leading in Global Health Together (LIGHT), formerly known as the International Health Interest Group, at Ohio States College of Medicine. Yimer gave a presentation to undergraduate students during his recent visit to Columbus, where he provided an overview of GOHi activities, the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of global health implementation, and the benefits of having global experiences. |

Awa Aidara-Kane, MD, PhD, is a coordinator in the Department of Food Safety and Zoonosis, World Health Organization (WHO), and the lead in the WHO Advisory Group on Integrated Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AGISAR), Geneva, Switzerland. She joined the WHO in 2002, and currently coordinates WHO's activities on containment of foodborne antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Aidara-Kane and the AGISAR have been a key GOHi partner. |

Veterinary student participates in Rabies in the Americas Conference in Buenos Aires |

A travel award from Ohio State alumni and GOHi supporter, Tom Mack, DVM, enabled Laura Binkley to attend the Rabies in the Americas (RITA) conference held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She presented her work on the molecular epidemiology of rabies in Ethiopia via poster as well as her work on the identification of terrestrial carnivore reservoir hosts for rabies transmission in an oral presentation. Her research involved a combination of laboratory and field work. |

Emia Oppenheim joins national public health organization |
Emia Oppenheim, PhD, director of operations for the Global One Health initiative (GOHi), resigned from her position in early November and is now currently working for a national public health organization, building on her previous work experience in chronic disease prevention. During her time with GOHi, Emia provided a wide range of administrative support to Wondwossen Gebreyes, GOHis executive director. She also worked closely with faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders to promote GOHis mission. Emia was instrumental in helping plan and implement the 2018 One Health Summer Institute the strongest institute to date which included diverse topics and workshops and boasted approximately 500 participants from many African countries. |
