Message from President Carrie Pavis Greetings!. 90 Years of Service, way to go SI Chico! Thank you to our events committee for the great tea party luncheon. It was fun learning about how drinking tea came about and SOLT had so much great information. It's crazy to think we are still doing some of the projects done 90 years ago.  This week some of us will be having our committee meetings, please try to make it to your assigned meeting our Co-Chairs do a lot to get ready for these meetings. I have been asked by the Peg Taylor Center to plan a craft activity, 2 Monday's a month for their clients and lead them in it. I would love a couple of volunteers to help me. If you are interested, please let me know. They have also asked me to be on the planning committee for their Poppy Walk in April. The first meeting I will be attending will be on Wednesday, January 22 nd . If anyone would like to attend with me, I would love to have you. This month we have 5 Wednesday's and our Event's Committee is planning our 5th Wednesday meeting at Panera Bread on January 29th at noon. I won't be able to attend this event because I will be in Mexico relaxing. Dress A Girl Service Project 2020 YAY! We have dates at Cathy's Sew & Vac on Tuesday February 18th & Tuesday March 31st from 5-9 to sew dresses. This is a fun and rewarding project. You don't need to be a seamstress to volunteer. We will supply pizza, you bring your own drinks. A signup went out Sunday, Jan. 12th via email. Let’s Take The Train! January 15, 2020 Update (copied from SNR's E-blast)   For our planning purposes, if you’re interested in taking the train, please complete the following questionnaire through this link...  https://forms.gle/8p7VRZ6hNs6ZWLheA Sitting on the fence about attending the 46 Annual SIA Convention in Bellevue? It’s certainly not too late to register. And whether you’ve already registered, or planning to do it soon, I want to remind everyone interested about a fun (affordable)  Grand West Coast Train Adventure  to Washington. Let the good times roll immediately on an adventure with Soroptimists from our own Sierra Nevada Region! The California gang will hop on the train in Sacramento, Chico, Redding and Dunsmuir stations, with Nevada Soroptimists able to enjoy an extended, incredibly scenic, departure from Elko, Winnemucca, Reno, Truckee, Colfax and Roseville stations, meeting up in Sacramento to head north. That’s right, we’ll all be on the same train, having a BLAST, with plenty of friendship and fun. Click  here  for a schedule flier.   We need to get our groups together soon though to make group, and individual, ticket purchase(s) to ensure the best rate and upper level. Please let me know as soon as possible if your plan to join us on the train. I’d like to make a group dinner reservation, plan some activities, purchase some souvenirs, organize transportation to the hotel, etc. While it may seem early, I’m a firm believer in the earlier you formulate and communicate your plan, the more smoothly it will go.
